I take it your at work Amarok? and i assume you mean over Montrose end not Olinda/Belgrave end?

Yeah at work at the moment. From what i can see it is just over the crest. Lighting is a little hard to see as its quite sunny here, but i can hear a LOT of distant rumbles.

Starting to bucket down in Gembrook now. I guess this is just the start too. My satellite tv stopped about 10 minutes ago and hasnt come back on yet. Its not usually out for that long.

Must get myself a rain guage!

i dont think any fires would burn at the moment, more likely its just mist from the trees and the higher level of the mountain, was watching it yesterday rising like smoke as well

well does not appear to have grown in the last 15 minutes, so that smoke may not really be anything major (often see smoke coming from the hills and its nothing at all other than some silly bugger burning off)

A reminder that there is a seperate thread open for pictures of this event. Thanks ;)

Otherwise, we copped some heavy showers 30 mins ago from a weak thunderstorm. Heard two claps of thunder, no lightning. Looks to be more coming in from the northwest now, also watching the the stuff at the northwest of Ararat, might extend further.

Those SSW winds along the SW coast isn't a seabreeze its extending East along the coast, it must be some sort of shortwave or the surface trough has moved East in the past few hours

My rain guage was invaded by bloody spiders, big web across the top half of it must have been keeping the water out as it didnt seem to rise at all no matter how much rain we had

Tipped out 69mm with 60 falling in 1 hit and none of yesterdays showers making any impact, hopefully works better now
