managed to get into the thunderstorm party last night with a small cell a few rumbles where herd :D but only the 1mm out of it. Light rain off and on this morning but with the radar filling in looking like a very wet arvo indeed 8-)

The stuff to the North is off it head, just erupted in minutes, surface based, currently at Flowerdale and moving in this direction..

Looks like we will get a good soaking again this evening, i'm tipping the bulk of the rainfall to be between 7pm tonight and 6am tomorrow morning up here. Could be looking at a total of more than 100mm here by then. Extraordinary!! :D

The radar is only light blue but the rain is fairly heavy, small drops though so it wont add up to too much in the guage. They look like they could all develop into Severe thunderstorms soon though

We had some fairly heavy showers here before but it has all eased back now. Thick low cloud cover so I can't see much structure around or anything. It looks very messy so far, I assume it will organise itself more with afternoon heating into a more substantial convective rain band. It is a bit worrying though from a local perspective that there is not much in the west of the state atm. Perhaps this system is focusing further east as GFS was indicating. Not 100% confident atm of particularly heavy falls here. Maybe just 20mm at this stage.

Just got back from Bunnings and installed my new rain gauge and it looks like just in the time.
We have such a small backyard I hope I put it in properly.

Getting really dark now but no rain yet.

Well, about time I showed my face around here. Been running around like a blue assed fly.

Rain to date from Thrusday night = 63.7mm

Not a bad start to the weekend. See how we go with the trough line moving Southwards over the next few hours... Anticipating some nice high falls.

No rain in the last 48 hours here in Launceston, not a drop. Forecast rain is yet to arrive. Overcast with increasing humidity.

Looking to the north from work looks like the heavier stuff just moved towards Ferntree Gully Boronia way up towards the hills. Enjoy up there :)
Just on the edge here but very heavy rain..,. Time to watch the cars try to flood each other as they race along Ferntree Gully Road :)
