Going off now, radar is starting to light up, some flash flooding likely in Central areas within the next 30 mins...and all night and into tomorrow as well.

Have a feeling I'll be forced outside to check the gauge & empty it at some point. Steady soaking rain here with puddles forming everywhere.

No rain for here yet, but I'm assuming it's not too far away?

Yes, but subject to a number of conditions. The cloud base/vis can't be below the minimum takeoff criteria for that aircraft type, weight, number of pilots, runway lightings and markings, etc... and the cloud base/vis also can't be below the landing minima for that airport and aircraft if they're forced to return after an engine failure. For most airline aircraft and major airports, the minimum takeoff minima is cloud base down to ground and vis of 500m which means the weather has to get pretty crappy to prevent takeoffs.

It's pouring down here in Richmond now with the CBD almost totally obscured by low cloud and rain. Wouldn't be surprised to see more rain echoes going in different directions on radar later today/tomorrow as the lower level flow turns more SW'ly under the higher level NNW'lies.

P.S. Melbourne's CATIII ILS was only implemented in recent times... the crew has to be suitably qualified and the aircraft suitably equipped to be able to use its landing minima. Still a handy system in shocking weather though.

Rain for the eastern suburbs is just appearing on the 128k radar now. You should get wet in about half an hour!

I hope you are making fun of the earlier comments posted about people calling this a fizzer, and that you don't actually think it is a fizzer.

Doppler clearly shows SW wind change convergence line. City could be upto 30mm in an hour at this rate. Welcome to QLD. There are going to be some extraordinary totals out of this.

Posting while I have internet connection... two short light showers here, nothing of note. Temp is dropping slightly since this morning, now 20.5, 75%RH. Wind picks up every now and again, it's quite cool but humid. Not much else to tell you from up here :)

A lazy 22mm here so far. Hoping to crack 50mm.

Edit: By my calculations another 6mm will see this become Bendigo's wettest October on record. Keep in mind the records only date back about 20 years here.
