Chance of snow about the higher suburbs of Canberra Saturday morning if there is any precipitation around, 850 temps around -4 and 500mb temps of -31C. Will try and get to some higher spots to see if I can score some snow.

I should add it is looking very windy during this period.

Yes Nick indeed. MetEye's snowline is certainly starting to fill around Canberra on Saturday morning.

Wind starting to pick up in Gungahlin (northern suburb Canberra), expect it to get much stronger overnight and tomorrow.

Severe weather warning for damaging winds current for Southern ACT and adjacent NSW, wouldn't be surprised if it is extended to other parts of the ACT.

Snow touch and go for the weekend, 500mb temps have warmed a bit on models but 850 temps still good at around -4.

About a mm overnight, tomorrow looks wetter with about 10mm expected, mainly Friday night. Still snow possible on Saturday morning, going to be some low apparent temps on the weekend.

Showers starting to build to the west of the ACT, should be a wet and windy night. Still snow chance tomorrow morning, depends if there are any showers left when the coldest air is around (always an issue for snow in Canberra).

Looking very cold in Canberra from Thursday 8 August 2019 at least Sunday 11 August 2019.

The way the models are shaping up this it could be a significant snow event for Canberra and the ACT.

-5.0C overnight in Canberra.

Not looking as good for snow on Friday, still a chance, very cold over the weekend, just need some moisture.

Snow on the nearby hills of Canberra forecasted Fri and Sat.

Certainly looks cold enough, depends on moisture at the right time.

If GFS comes off could be snow about Sunday morning.

Still a mild (relatively) 4C in Canberra this morning, though apparent temp is well below 0. Tomorrow morning looks like it may all come together, well according to EC with snow possible in Canberra.

Has reached 42.9C in Canberra smashing the old record maximum of 42.2C. Strong NW winds making for scary fire weather.

Hoping no fires get going to the west of ACT.
