No doubt. But if we here on a humble weather forum can see it, why can't the models and their super computers? Neither the climate forecasts, nor the short-range forecasts can pick it.

I know everyone is desperate for rain but when you look at the past two years it’s really only been the west and south west of Victoria that’s missed out. The problem really is it hasn’t been just dry, it’s been record dry and it is amazing BOM has never picked it up in its models. It’s looking increasingly like this is a fundamental shift in our weather patterns, akin the south-west WA. The cold fronts that used to deliver us our regular and relatively consistent rainfall are just not here presently and you wonder if they are ever coming back.

Good falls for Gippsland and now ok falls adding up in the Otways. Showers just starting to reach eastern Tasmania. Not expecting much, but fingers crossed anyway. Few showers days ahead. Big shame about the huge low churning in the Tasman sea watering the fish

Yes, that Tasman low does seem like a bit of a waste - sums up the last year for us westerners...

Meanwhile, 4.5mm of drizzly showers over the last 3 days to finish the month on 35.5mm. March is our driest month so that's actually only 8mm below average. Trouble is, we've got a 300mm deficit to make up. Would love to borrow some of that Queensland rain for a day or two!

Officially 18mm at Bendigo AWS in March 2025. We got less than that on this side of town (about 12mm).

Going by MJO phases, we'll be waiting until mid-May until any rainfall here. If we're lucky.

Now boring cool to cold few months April/May/June which are full of lots of massive slow moving highs, the odd cold front lots of Sly winds meh gross weather, but not disgusting yet thats winter lol drak cold grey and depressing lol.

Think rain will return late April but maybe not very stuck in this dry pattern atm and soon from next week tropical moisture will cut off as tropics end another very wet wet season up there in Qld espically

Just 24mm for month against average of 35mm, 58mm for YTD against an average of 109mm. Daytime maximum temperature for March +2.1C, our fifth consecutive month of above +2C temperatures. Now in our third year of drought and it only seems to get hotter and drier. Tree dieback is extreme in places.

Pretty grim March for Tasmania capping off another dry start to a calendar year. Not quite as bad as last year but still way below average with a lack of proper east coast lows and fronts. Just over 26mm at our place for the month which is about 20mm below average. March is historically pretty lean for us. Looks like it’s touch and go for Australia’s hottest March on record.



Aprils started with showers for us with nearly 3mm overnight. Looks quite showery for the week ahead and getting cold on the weekend with lots of mountain snow.

I suppose we are to be considered one of the lucky ones, although it certainly doesn't feel like it, with 52.5 for the month, ytd 115MLS. Also December 2024 with 43mls, the amount of shrubs, rhododendrons and trees we have to get help to remove is very saddening indeed. It is going to be a huge burnoff when permitted and fire restrictions limited.

Wow feb/march last year was dry followed by heaps of rain at once.
