Warm start to the week, followed by a series of fronts the last cutting off into a strong low. Big change in temperatures for the week, with 850Ts starting out in the low teen, dropping to around -5C over Tas and around -3C over Vic. System is probably the coldest for the year, so might finally see some lower level snow, but still looks probably too mild for spots like the Dandenongs. Heavy falls in the alps, should add a bit of life to the ski season at the higher resorts, at least for a week or so.
Will be a very wet system for coastal VIC, the alps and western Tasmania. Elsewhere, a lot depends on the details. Should be widespread and at least moderate falls.
Just noticed this thread - posted in the wrong one!
EC has snow to 600m asl around here on Friday evening. Latest BOM 4 day synoptic charts certainly show a deep southerly fetch at the end of the week, which usually means low level snow... although I've thought we were a chance a few times this winter and nothing happened, so don't take that to the bank .
Turning into quite a dumper for east central as picked by the progs. Funny, looking at radar earlier would not have expected it.
This whole sequence looks like an east central to eastern ranges special. Heavy falls. Patchier elsewhere and not a lot in the northwest. Western tas will get bucket loads. Eastern areas depend a lot on the position of the low but currently looks good.
Watch for some low level snow on the backside, most likely on eastern VIC and south/east Tasmania. Could then be some really nasty frosts early next week. The record warmth has bring slot of flowering towards so could be damaging.
Great result for east central. Way too rain shadowed here with all the wind, so just a very modest 1.4mm yesterday.
Feeling spring-like here now, with many trees starting to leaf up and flowers in bloom. A little burst of cooler weather later this week after having almost 20c on Sunday; the typical variations in maximum temps now increasing as we head out of winter.
Just a mm down in Howden. Was never a system for us.
The main event is building in the bight. Unfortunately it’s starting to peak further west and possibly slide which will drag the heaviest falls over the ocean west of Tasmania. Hopefully it can edge a bit further west as we really need an event.
System looks very windy, but slips south at the wrong spot. Only 100-200km form this been a good rain producer and being a bit of a fizzer. Expecting it to land in between. Some lower level snow, but not the snow to sea level system for Tas and 500m it was looking like.
Next week looks horrible for early spring. Early season warmth inbound. EC has 850Ts nearly 20C above average, and 35C in Mildura

Acess C nailed Monday nights event with soaking for east central into gippy but little elsewhere.
