Big totals overnight in already saturated areas result in major issues like this just west of Geelong:

https://www.9news.com.au/national/geelo ... 12f055057f

With the paddocks so wet, they will find it hard to get cranes and trucks down here to fix this mess which could see the Melb to Perth Standard Gauge line out for weeks which is huge $$$. Luckily the driver walked away.

We didn't get a great deal of rain overnight. I don't mind missing out this time.

One can be surprised how quickly they can fix this. Probably open again next week.

As for the next week - really quite cold for November. Almost ridiculously so.

52.25mm total for this thread here, only the second (single) day of storms for this spring. Gone cold and winterly under the frontal clouds this arvo, only 15C out there now after 27C yesterda, 31C last Thursday. In terms of excess rain, Nth Central Gippsland might be the luckiest area in Vic this year.

Mr Weather on the ABC said snow is possible to 800m throughout the day tomorrow.
Down to 5° now after a lofty top if 12°.
My fire has been going 24/7 since Thursday. Crazy at this time of the year.

Icy rain down here this morning with a temperature of 4C, and still dropping. Locally snow levels are in the 200 to 300m range. Obs suggest something like 5cm has fallen on the south side of Wellington onto the Snug Tiers at 400m. Might be a bit of snow for the school run which goes to 200m :D

Wet and cold day head. EC has. Max of about 8C here today. Will depend on if the rain breaks early or continues all day :D

Latest burst of rain has just dropped the temps further :o Now down to 3C here at 100m. I’m guess that means sleet is currently falling to something around 150m.

Total rain here for the event is ok, but nothing spectacular. Just shy of 25mm so far. Progs have another 25mm today, but not sure. The trajectory of the low looks a touch east expected, but it might well edge west.

Not surprised you’ve had snow, Macedonian, with the temps this afternoon and evening.

A wintry day for sure. We made it briefly to 10c, with the afternoon progressively colder. It has been just above 3c since about 8pm this evening. A day of pretty much everything - heavy showers, hail, thunder, the odd squall, plus the occasional brief bit of sun.

A total of 7.8mm here, which takes us to 65mm MTD. Not nearly as much as many other areas, given we missed some of the storms last week but still fairly wet considering it’s only mid-month.

34mm in the gauge for the last 24 hours - mid night to mid night. Monthly total now looks healthy, just short of the long-term average.

Is a nice cover of snow on Kunanyi this morning, but melting fast under a warm sun.

Another event inbound for the weekend. Time for a new thread :)

Mount Hotham's minimum last night of -7.0 is the coldest November temperature recorded in Victoria for November, from what I can see?
