Some good consensus on the current model runs:

Image

First decent rain to impact Gippsland since mid winter, generally handy rain for all of Vic, and an advance to near-moderate flooding of the Murray downstream of Albury, ....which may remain for many weeks to come?

Significant upgrade in the forecast models for here this week. Might make things fun for some of the rivers around here. Eppalock likely to overflow if 20-30mm falls in the catchment.

Eildon now 99% and Dartmouth is overflowing.

I was there back in 2010 when it last spilled. Was a decent crowd too.

Inflows into a spilling Dartmouth have jumped to over 12,000 ML/d overnight. The spillway is about to become a Niagra.

No more flood mitigation for the Mitta unfortunately, which in turn will wipe out Hume's already limited capacity to hold back floodwaters. Crazy times.

.....and going by the latest CMC update, we can expect the Mitta to continue with high flows for another week:

This run takes some of Vic's NW, but plenty available for the east.

Lake Glenmaggie, at 90% has increased outflows to 5ML/day, presumably to create a little headspace for the mid week rain looming.

SENSATIONAL day today out enjoying it so good :D :D

Not looking as bad as a few days ago, but still a showery and stormy week for many.

Rainfall most seeing 10-20mm for the week but many through central and east vic seeing 25-50mm with isol 80 to 100mm for the week.

One again this will see many rivers go back into minor to mod flooding across central and eastern Vic especially NE Vic.

Week after looking intresting more mid to late spring trough/esaterly dip could be anything so intresating times first week of Oct

4mm this morning so far. It's got that -ve IOD feeling that I remember in Spring 2016, and 2010-2011.

Might get another 5mm or 40mm. Who knows?

Also, October 6 is starting to look 'interesting' a long way ahead.

3mm so far this morning.

A fairly decent rain band is currently moving through northern areas of the state. Expecting we'll see showers/rain return further south as the day goes on.

Beautiful day here yesterday. It only reached 16c, but felt warm in the sun. A classic spring day, followed by rainy weather today.

Hmmmm, it's not really happening much today. I think it's too cold for anything substantial.

This system has been prertty underwhelming so far, for me anyway.
Just 0.5mm's overnight and none today so far, MTD is 62.6mm's
0.6mm's overnight at Ballarat Airport and 63.2mm's for the month.
Monthly average is 71mm's.
A liitle bit on the radar further west but nothing to write home about.

Went to tulla n back this arvo, light steady rain from Dandenong to Tulla, and from Tulla back to Moe, an hour back.

Found that the lead gray calm sky here turned to a period of rain mid arvo here, got 1.75mm from that. Dead calm and trying to rain lightly again out here now.

Yeah the upper low and tropical connection offset to much with this system so no big falls but good thing for many already so wet.

Widespread showers and possible TS tending to rain at times in spots tomorrow then rain and poss TS in east on Wednesday clearing west, easing central.
Some get nothing others get 30 to 50mm highly variable system.

Rough line Swan hill(already had 20mm) to Cape Otway and NE Vic and East Gippy best chance for higher falls maybe central ranges too.
South coast, far west and NW little if any at all.

My eyes firmly on next week already could be huge and tropics waking up really early with big falls possible then widespread rain storms and moisture across huge swaths of the country the real bad flooding will begin if that happens.

Been travelling so not much to report. Had a few surprise cells go up here yesterday arvo, which dropped locally 10mm, but most sites got less than a mm. Thinking the same today and tomorrow, more widespread on Thursday.

This system is marginal for southern Vic and southern Tasmania, but better for the north of both states. Expecting today to be wet for much of northern and ranges parts of VIC, and could be quite a lot of storm activity. EC has storms in parts of southern Vic, but seems a bit odd given the mostly southeasterly flow. Gfs less keen, guess will see.

Another big system showing up for next week. This La Niña and negative IOD is really cranking atm.

4mm since 9am at work in Macedon.
MTD is 66mm. Sept average is 86mm.
YTD is 590mm. By the end of September for the last two years we were already on 645mm each year.
It's not a high rainfall year here.

Classic spring downpour right here at the moment. No wind, and torrential rain.

Agree, can see it on the WV satellite image. However, with a LLC now evident up around Corowa way atm, a moisture source advected from the warmer than normal SST off the SE NSW coast might be available?:

Image

[edit] the above clearly shows the -IOD developing (much warmer waters near Java than over Madagast-India zone) and what looks like a mature La Nina (cold SST wedge pushing W over the Pacific with warm waters at the Coral Sea). Batten down the hatches!
