2mm down here in Howden and mild. Peaked at 16C yesterday. Event on 12mm so far. Always going to bigger for the northern parts of our state. Thing I saw a flash or two last night, but vis wasnt great.

Looking at a solid rain event here on the back end of this low with a southeasterly wrap. We have cold air in that quadrant so going to be heavy snow about 800m :D Should see 20-40mm and finally fill our 80,000 litres of water tanks (we got down to about 3000 litres at the end of March so required a lot of rain).

Been really busy, so a bit slow on reports :?

Huge event for the ranges in NSW. Highly unusual to have such a big warm rain event at the peak of the ski season. 200mm plus :o

Decent storm last night in our neck of the woods, had everything with loud claps of thunder, lightning & even hail. Woke us all up after falling asleep only an hour earlier & even sent the Kelpie running for our bedside.
If this had hit during Spring/Summer it would of been total destruction.

Just over 8mm here last night with the storms. We lost power for about an hour just after midnight when lightning was occurring close by. It's still very mild - the temp only got down to 11.2c overnight and it's currently 12.4c.

25mm for the event so far.

We ended up with another 6mm overnight from the storms. Each little bit is adding up. Stream flows are picking up around here too, finally.

The pineapple express has made a mess of the ski resorts... Hopefully some recovery with the colder air moving through this weekend.

Got woken up twice by thunder here overnight, a nice surprise for this time of year. Couple of heavy rain bursts but didn’t amount to much more than 1mm by the look of it.

Interesting temps overnight, looked like we spiked back up to 17c before the 2nd storm came through.

This warmer weather has been good to stretch out our firewood supply. Not cheap this year!!!

Looks like I'll have to start watering some plants after work. Some of them starting to look sad as we have had bugger all rain around here, with a pathetic 4mm for the past 7 days & a week of disgusting windy filth.

Quite a decent drop of rain from that first band - 8.5mm here. Should be some more showers to follow. And thankfully very little wind today!

Hi everyone, I'm going to try and be more active on this forum.

So far the weather in the past week over Templestowe has been pretty average apart from the odd storm. I tried chasing that Supercell on Thursday night but being winter and Melbourne, the storm already broke up by the time I reached it. So unfortunately I drove out for nothing but that's the fun of storm chasing.

I hope everyone is going well.

Nice wintery one here today. Always do better when it goes south or southeast here, and exactly what has happened. Almost 10mm with snow falling to about 600m.

Climbed South Wellington from Ferntree this morning. About 500m vertical with heavy snow and graupel. Great weather for it :We climb it every couple of weeks so can do it in about 90 minutes up and down.

Here’s a couple of shots on the way up. Got nice flakes falling interspersed with heavy graupel. Awesome having this all 15 to 20 minutes drive from home. Been quite a a good year for low level snow here compared to the last few, but hasn’t really persisted in between the events with only drifts lasting.

Nice shots HB.Must be a dream having frequent snow events for you this winter down there.

In Mansfield we have around 30mm since the 1st and ground is very wet. Gullies are flowing, dams overflowing. If we get what models are proging this week we'll be into flooding territory for several rivers near here.

-1C here this morning, with crunch grass 🥶Weather station is halfway up a slope in the garden and would guess -2 or -3 in the horse paddock. That’s the fifth negative for the year here. Looks like a nice sunny day.

Exactly 25mm for the dates here, not bad. Was wild in the Snowys and surrounds, although a very steep east-west rainfall and wind gradient spared us the worst of the weather.

Impressive-looking system brewing for later in the week, although lots of uncertainty with the details. Time for a new thread?

(PS: Enjoying those Tas pics hillybilly.)

Another ripping frost this morning. Down to -2degC.

The rest of this week looks all a bit meh. We haven't had a decent cold outbreak since early June. At least we've had ok rain in the past two weeks, although the crops in the Mallee are needing a drink.

Another frost here this morning too, with the temp down to -0.8c. It was frosty Monday morning and should be again tomorrow. Currently 6.4c and dropping fairly quickly.

As SB says, nothing really major with regard to rainfall this week, just some winter showers and a bit of wind at times. We've had a good start to August here with 40mm so far. Definitely in need of a cold outbreak and low level snow before winter leaves us ;)

Another cracking frost here this morning. Horse trough had about half an inch of ice on it, and the ground crunched. Would guess around -3C. Closer to the house up the hill I recorded -0.5C in the screen. Looks like one more frost before a potentially significant rain event. Not that cold with the next system, so mainly showers and rain, with perhaps some high elevation snow.

Yesterday Was the first time I’d noticed our roof frozen, maybe never been and looked before?
House was comfortable around 13 with no heating overnight, few more window replacements to go.

And another cracking frost. Third -1C in a row. Nice day, and low have cirrus filling the sky from the north. A bit of rain tomorrow then a very wet and mild period coming up.
