Cold wind, but blue skies and very dry air over us today. We could be on track for our driest July on record.

After tomorrow there appears to be no rain for the rest of the month.

6mm overnight. First real rain for 3 weeks. 7mm July month to date.

Still the driest July since 1889.

Cloudy. Windy. Very high (95%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, with gusty winds and possible small hail. Winds north to northwesterly 25 to 40 km/h turning westerly in the middle of the day.

Could have said that it might scare ya pants off, I’d forgotten what a storm was all about..
19.3mm. Least it didn’t take all day to get that amount of water..

A decent 5mm from this arvo's near-thundery change after a windy NW'ly 24 hrs ahead of it. Takes us to 20mm past 10 days after a very dry June. But soil is still damp out this way.

We narrowly missed that absolute ripper of a storm that went through Bundoora yesterday afternoon. The approach to Plenty Rd exit on the Western Ring Rd was flooded & there was piles of hail everywhere. It looked liked it had snowed.

We had snow on and off around lunchtime and a little after.
An early max of 4C when sun was out this morning. That is about 2C warmer than I was expecting considering Melbs forecast max was only 10C.
Will be interested to see if it went higher than that.

Bloody cold day here too, 12C for a brief period, cold SW'ly breeze and several showers tallied 1.75mm.

Ski resorts must be marvelous, but we havent been able to see far enough up there past week to see all the accumulated snow.

It is fairly difficult to achieve a sub-zero minimun on my sloping mountain top property. Had my first one for the winter on a clear breezy night last night.
Down to -0.7 and still -0.5 at 9am despite the sun.

Must've had some cloud cover overnight. Only got down to 1 degC very briefly. July 2022 has so far seen colder nights and warmer days than average. Not what you expect in a La-Nina.

I can't see much rain until about a week into August. What happened to all these predictions of a wet winter? It should be with the IOD diving to negative. I suspect the SAM is throwing a spanner in the works.

BoM's "night forecast model" (if it ever had a name) is broken. When i used to live near you, it would hardly predict negative minimums yet the occurrence of negatives was at least 3-5 per year.

Same as here in Cranbourne.

Boring weather, though at least we’re getting some frost in the mix.

It started off so well, then the doldrums hit… All the cold fronts just keep diving south.

What’s the bet the weather arrives late winter, early spring again?
