Oh well that's it I am giving up on seeing snow here again, last time
was about in 95 with a couple of good snow flurry showers.

Another 10 mm to add to the total up to 40 now.
That is good, the ground is wet, the creeks are running specially around Daylesford.

I will give the snow bunnies time to have a bit of fun, then we need
some good spring rains to arrive. Get some good run off whilst the ground is wet.

Congrats to all who picked this system and kept us up to date.
Thanks Chris

A few photos from this morning. Awesome while it lasted. We dipped to 0.1C with 17mm of precip. Snowed for about six hours on and off. Snow always settles best here on the lee side of the hills with a 5-10cm cover in part of Olinda. Did some epic toboggan runs with the kids in the golf course :D

Would guess the peak snow depth at our place was about 5cm, but varies a lot with not much under the trees because they tend to catch it. In Olinda was up to about 15cm deep in drifts, but mostly about 5cm. Would be the best two snowfalls since 2008, but probably 5-10cm less than that event.

Still getting graupel showers here, but cold air is now headed for the Blue Mountains.

Friend up in Lionville reckons they had 10-20cm overnight. Lots of trees down. That’s a good snowfall for them, nowadays.

Wonderful pictures everyone, congratulations to all you snow bunnies up in the hills & high country. :D

As for the rest of us, well it's just been another stock standard winter event. Didn't even get hail here in Burnside Heights.

Currently on my way to the G via the train with an awesome view of that next coldie coming up from the bay.

So did anybody's low level snow last past noon?

And where was the lowest it fell?

I reckon it fell to about 300- 350m if I had gotten up early enough in the Yarra Valley, the lowest I found was about 409m at 9am, just some little patches, most mountains had a bit of snow on them, and it's the lowest snowline I have ever seen in the Yarra Valley, one farm paddock leading up into the back of the mountain forest was lucky enough to get the top of the property blanketed.

Look here. An amazing resource.

Thanks mate, I have been using stormcast, can't get an image at the moment in stormcast, but that link you sent works good, and plenty of options to play around with.

And nice pics btw, glad you got a good snowfall out of this, as I was saying before it happened, it has been a while since the last decent cover of snow in the Dandenongs haha.

Lasted here among the plants til about 2pm.

I suspect it fell locally to about 250m. There was thick snow in the lee of Olinda down to about 450m. It usually snows a couple of hundred metres below the level it settles. EC did an amazing job of picking the snow windows and levels.

I’ve seen it snow in Yarra Glen before (in 1994). It was a full on blizzard that day when I drove through :D

Impressively the leading edge of the cold air pool is now moving up on New England Tablelands. Looks like a decent fall for spots like Guyra and might sneak into the southern Granite Belt. That area is suffering a shocking drought so will be wierd for them getting a cover of snow :o

Just noticed on the Satpic that the front that went through here at 0700 is now approaching the QLD border :o
That's some serious energy right there, from the disruption of the polar vortex 2-3 weeks ago!

11.30 the sun come out,
Managed to get through a game of footy, no rain until the trip home when it really come down,
9 deg noted on the car trip both ways, the slight bit of a breeze had blue fingers for me.
And they had a win..

Pouring rain now so goodbye to the snow.
It got to 3.7C here today, despite having about 12cm of snow covering everything.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m

My wife says the snow finally melted here mid afternoon.

Drove through settled snow for a good 45 minutes en route to Bendigo this morning, persisted down to about 500 metres. Massive amount of snow- covered country; would have looked good on a satellite image if not for cloud.

When I was coming down from Olinda, it looked like the snow got as low as Sassafras.

Some light snow cover must have made Tremont this time, I would think, and possibly the higher hughe St parts of Upwey and Mast Gully Rd, but that would have been earlier in the morning of course. I wonder if anyone can confirm it? Haha.

Temps are usually pretty borderline in those parts for low level events.

I used to live near the Tremont border in Ferny Creek, and got pretty unlucky with snow there, no snow settling in my 5 years of living there a part from a bit of slush one morning on the car windscreen at 6am, but that's all. Lol.

Anyway next low level snow looks like the Monday after this one.

No snow in Mansfield but plenty on the surrounding hills of the divide this morning as Steveco mentioned. 35mm for the event for us. Should provide some of the best run off into Lake Eildon so far this year, currently 41% with a wet catchment now.

Thanks for all the deep analysis, obs and photos from all. Has been a great event to experience and follow here 😊

Found this link showing the extent of the snow today from the Black Spur to Woodspoint. Spectacular footage in parts.

No snow in Mount Evelyn, was up and about before 6 and although we had plenty of rain we didn't see a flake. Last time (2008) we got a little sleet, thought we were on this time.
