Also, a final autumn break for parts of the west. Locals in Mildura will be confused with the second proper rain day for the month, after the virtually rainfree January to April :o

Don’t like the progs for next week. Big highs again :(
Big high, but seems to move on by next weekend with showery weather showing up? That's not too bad is it?

18 mm here up to now, looking at the radar I think we have been on the edge all night.
Hopefully keep going all morning and clock up 30.

Nice drop Gordon, right in the sweet spot. MJO May is certainly producing the goods for many. Mildura almost double the May average now as well and Charlton is heading towards 3 times the average rapidly. Ben Nevis and Airey Inlet now have cracked the 50mm +

The upper low is still calling the shots from near the NSW border. Surface to 700 hPa is about to squeeze hard at the edges of the circulation. Big cell already going off just south of Philips Island on that edge in Bass strait. West of Melbourne near Avalon starting to thicken up

One of many good things has been most of the rain here this month has fallen steadily, giving it a chance to soak in.

However looking southeast on the radar, maybe some seriously heavy stuff coming?

Unless that band fills in, it's all over here. Year to Date is 66mm, so still very much in a severe drought here.

Now at 45mm since it started 13 hours ago, no complaints here as can even see the dam filling now.
MTD at 115mm, so maybe on for 120mm or 130mm from May by the end of this round!

Plenty more coming your way. As a matter of interest, what is your record highest May rainfall?

Good point - just checked and during our 22 years here, the previous high for May was 117mm, so we'll beat that today!

I could see the slight rotation echo near Lara. Sort of hard to tell if a spout was involved but there was inter-cloud lightning off that cell as it approached land.

15.6mm overnight here. Looks like some very healthy falls further west. It sure is slow moving at the moment.

Started Raining here at 7.30pm last night and hasnt stopped since, still coming down.
PWS is showing me 45mm's but will check the manual gauge at 9am.
Over 40mm's at Ballarat Airport as well. All time 24 hour record at the Airport is 48mm's (for May)
So getting near that May record. :D

Belting down now, though probably seems more intense than it actually is due to the wind speed ramping up considerably. Was enjoying the lack of wind overnight, but it's back with a vengeance now.

A little uneasy about possible severe weather incoming (wind and rain). Not sure BOM are entirely across this given how it's playing out so far.

Pea sized hail, torrential rain and loud thunder in the last half hour here - wonderful start to the day!

How odd, its warmer here by 1degree than it was yesterday morning. I thought it was meant to be cold? 4.5C now.
16mm here which is good but a long way short of the forecast amount.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m
