Just had a very dense heavy shower hear- despite not having a tin roof, I was woken by overflowing gutters.

And of course all my washing is out on the line.

Completely missed the action yesterday afternoon, and had I not checked the lightning tracker (or here!) I would not have known there was a storm!

Great to wake up to a couple of rumbles and short burst of heavy-ish rain this morning. Getting quite dark outside again and is spitting lightly.

3mm since 9am yesterday...and that will rise in the next 30 mins!

(Off topic - FWIW, I always lock in my exposure for pano's. I assess the scene first to find what I'm going to take, find the 'middle ground' for light and lock focus and exposure on that. I have never had an issue with bad stitching lines, because all the images for the pan are the same exposure. Might be worth starting a topic in the photography section so we can compare notes there, and not here?) <----- I'll detele this bit in a couple of days to avoid clogging up!

Had 7.8mm here since 9am yesterday.

Drove through that storm up to Monbulk and near Silvan Dam the water was everywhere as the drains couldnt cope. It was a fun drive i can assure you, puddles of water made it tough driving and we aquaplaned afew times. Not sure of the totals but at least 10mm, and in very quick time.

Another burst of cold air, another downpour this morning. And no let up anytime soon. The colder air is the driver of our weather, La Nina is just another component. Without all the these upper troughs we would have little rain the last few months.

Be very careful driving through the intersection of Ferntree Gully Rd & Stud Rd through along Stud Road to Kellets Road - there are soap suds and big soapy puddles everywhere due to the truck rollover (losing it's load of liquid soap) a week or so back. The whole area looks like a washing machine and the roads are treacherous!

8.6mm here, about to head off to Eildon.

15mm at Warranwood to 6am this morning. Not sure how much at Knox but I would suggest about the same.

I sang at the Manningham Carols last night and that storm that came over at 6pm was furious with high winds and very heavy rainfall. Suggest 20mm in that area from the storm.

Another 6mm here in the last hour at work with they're total here in Scoresby up to 19mm.

Heavy showers here all morning since about 6am. Brings the 24 hour total to 9am this morning up to 17mm, 5mm of that yeasterday in a thunderstorm in quick time!! :D I am very surprised by the rainfall totals about the west coast this morning ... higher than what I anticipated.

Some nice showers over central parts now, they should clear eastwards over the next hour or so.

And what do you know, blue sky here .... not a cloud in the sky. :P

With the breif rain from last evenings change and a "one clap" storm this morning, we have kicked off this event with a handy 6.5mm, and its just started to rain lightly again now. Baro has risen from 997 yest to 1000 hPa atm.

Hoping for a 4 hour spell this arvo while I sneak a round of golf in.

6.8mm to 9am this morning, most of it from the storm that came through in the early evening.

Fireworks at the Carols by Candlelight last night went off without a hitch, although about 15 mins late. Was quiet this year compared to previous years most likely on account of the weather.

Breezy and cool at the moment but the sun is peeking out now and then for a look.

Another band of showers and thunderstorms forming to the west. Some sunshine is handy sending the temps sky rocketing to 17. Will be on for sure.

Also tomorrow should see a band of rain develop as the air is cold but very moist.

Warmer air has been advected in ahead of the front tomorrow, looking good for 20mm with a rain band and embedded thunderstorms from the morning.

Another "one clap" storm just missed us to the N late morning to give an extra mm so event total 7.5mm. Had a fairly windy arvo that golf (WNW) and the grass in this area is magnificent. Baro sitting on 1000 neat and 22.6C max.

Hoping to score an extra 12mm from tomorrows system (which is obviously not of interest - ie. ignored by Melb and central/Western Vic posters on this forum).

Tomorrow looking very unstable. The last couple of days have been unstable enough with a smaller and less intense cold pool over us so it will be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow with a major cold pool crossing us. Expect the radar to light up like a Christmas tree. Heavy showers accompanied by squalls, and plenty of hail around the place.
