Hello Weather maniacs
It looks like we had a wild day yesterday, those Yarra river and Beach pics are amazing.
I arrived back at Tullamarine at 9pm last night after a month in the UK. Lucky for me my flight wasnt earlier in the day, i dont think i would have been landing in melbourne during that storm.
It was calm when i arrrived back at Mount Macedon. apparently we had snow? A facebook friend said there was snow at Fern Hill near Tylden. The air had that snowy smell here when i got out of the car.
Its freezing, the house was 6.5C inside after a month without heating
. It is 4C outside now. Lowest for me was minus0.4C and the top recorded was 13.7C while i was away. That is probably the warmest June max ive ever recorded here. I dont like the idea of a max like that in June up here
No reports from Andrew from down the bottom of the mount? Is he not around anymore?
An amazing month in the UK, No rain , blue sky, sun. It was daylight from just before 4am until 11.30 pm up north around The Lake District and Scotland.
Ive got a few days off before back to work, more snow please!

Further to hillbilly's post, latest BOM 4 day charts
http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/4day_col.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; are sticking with an intense low (985 to 988 hpa) to move through Bass Strait Saturday. May have to rethink my weekend trip to Apollo Bay...
And wondered where you were Macedonian, thought you'd be bragging about Monday night/Tuesday's snow for sure
! There was a nice pic in the Weather section of ski.com.au taken on Mt Macedon of a genuine white cover, but you'll have to troll back through pages of obs from the current system to find it; they've understandably gone a bit berserk over there!

Wow this weekend system seems to be growing every run
May not be anything left of the beaches if the high tides coincide with the gale force westerlies

Sadly no real winter temps as yet. Even a day like Tuesday produced a max of around 15 in the CBD. My definition of proper winter weather is when there is a low of 5 and max of 10 or 11 forecast for Melbourne with snow on the Dandenongs.
I know it is early days yet, but it is yet to eventuate...

5 mm overnight here brings us to 22 mm for the event; handy for run-off, especially if we can manage another 20 mm or so over the weekend.

Access and GFS more dramatic for this weekend
I guess the sting in the tail will be the placement of the low in bass straight some time Saturday
At this stage the signs are looking good for the most severe weather
Sky weather are hinting at on par with Tuesday or bigger dependant on the final position of the low
Looks like the event will go well in to Sunday
Batten down

Here we go again with the wind.
This is really going to put my fitness to the test riding home tonight. I escaped Tuesday's event as I had the car, but not today. Mind you it was sure fun riding with the wind this morning on the way to work.
