Heard thunder earlier in Abbotsford when I went for a walk down the street (as weather nuts and their gundogs are wont to do in the rain)... Got soaked - pretty happy with that....Trentham sitting on 99.4mm with pressure down to 1001.3 and falling.....Jane

Bugger - although they are a little more prepared at Charlton this time i think (well I hope). They had taken all the boards holding the water back out of the weir this morning.

Good heavens this humidity is sapping! Still missing us here mostly for now, another 0.2mm, but the wind's just picked up in a hurry! Great reports from everyone, Rhino, Gerta, everyone, hope you're all ok and things don't get too bad. Cuttofflow, who would have thought it would happen again so soon?!

29/23 here in Geelong's north. Had 3mm today to give me 63mm for the system. The kids and mum want to put the aircon on but I'm enjoying the humidity and doing my bit to conserve energy 8-)

Never would have thought in the middle of January regardless of La nina, Neg IOD or Monsoon that we could get this wet. For Maryborough there is nothing in 133 years of records that comes near this and the same goes for large areas of Wimmera and Northern/Western plains of Victoria.

We are usually in May or sometimes June when we have this amount of accumulated rainfall! (150-175mm)

Have recorded 125mm in 3 days and another 50mm+ coming thursday, just about the wettest ever event for around here.

Got smashed by that rain driving through bayswater - whiteout conditions! I saw it coming, cloud almost black and couldn't even see Mt Dandenong from Canterbury Rd. Don't know what the rain rate was but must have been huge!

Very active line approaching, I guess you would call it a squall line. We seem to do really well here at picking gaps in this situation but if we do get hit then there will be 20-50mm in it. It is sliding through from N to S as it moves east so there should be a good 20-30 minutes of it, and that's if it doesn't spread out as it hits the ranges.

Low cloud has cleared away enough to see the structure of these storms on the SW horizon. Looking like a classic summer multicell. Not much vertical development in it though.

Just caught a bit more rain, a couple of flashes and rumbles. 54mm event total so far. Incredible moisture. I fear for western Victoria looking at the models!

Just scored 12.4mm in 15 minutes, up to 22.7mm now for the event. the centre went just East through Coldstream and the yarra valley. Still exceptionally muggy so another wet night is likely with further thunderstorms as well.

Expect a big line to form over NW Vic and over the border in SA overnight, will be some very big totals yet again.

Its about half time, but we are staring down the barrel of the biggest event in history.

14mm since this morning takes us to 84mm for event.

A deepening low tomorrow could cause significant orthographic lifting north of the divide. Sept 5 was similar in that regard as it low in Western Vic sucked in moist airstream from NE.

Just for interest's sake, Flemington had 141mm (or thereabouts) in one day in January 1963. On that same day most of Melbourne had falls around 100mm and many suburbs 100-150mm so it is not unprecedented by any stretch.

There was massive flooding through the western suburbs of Melbourne back then.

Sure is warm and humid out there now, no idea what the temp is as ive just moved house and the thermo got broken in the move :(
here on the farm we are well over 70mm for the last few days. The lake at the bottom of the garden has re-appeared and everything is well soggy.
I am pretty pleased because things were starting to dry out last week and this drenching is very timely.
Sounds amazing in North Central Vic and the Wimmera.
