Have just got back from Drysdale, and had a nic view of the line coming in from the West. Mostly just a low-mid deck of cloud, however there were 2 very definitive towers pushing through the deck. Will see how it goes when it goes through. Might head up to Pt Arlington to get a view later on... see what the wife wants to do. :)

looking at the lightning tracker there is a line streching from Qld to Melb :o slowly moving east so I guess areas east will see some real action. what about the clould streaming in from NT/central into Vic West of this line? Is that an area to keep an eye on. National loop is crazy! Any expert opions? :D about 30mm here in the last couple of days, but who's counting ;)
How good was August!

It is so humid that the floor tiles in our house are wet from the condensation. Had to put socks on the kids cos they were slipping over on it....weird!

Moisture is pouring into the trough from NT, and a low will form in SA tomorrow morning. Still record dewpoints as the models correctly predicted, and totals will be well above 200mm also as models predicted.

New Severe weather warning is out with wind also now a factor as the low may bomb right over us. So its time to batten them down and take care because its about to turn ugly in the next 12 hours.

10.3mm so far for the event, hope to start catching up tonight.

Yeah, me too! The mirrors were all fogged up earlier too, but it seems to have cleared, now.

Yes it's thunder for sure, heard a few rumbles here and a CG on WZ radar near St Kilda area. Hoping things continue into the afternoon/night for some lightning activity :)

Just had a very quickfire 10mm in that line of heavy showers, takes me to 113mm for the event now and local creek is looking real bad, was up to 3.6m at 11.45am but higher now, around 4m. Could be sandbagging if rain keeps up over the next 12 hours.

Severe Weather Warning
for damaging winds and flash flooding
for people in the South West, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera, Mallee, Central and North East forecast districts
Issued at 3:45 pm EDT on Wednesday 12 January 2011.

Weather Situation
A low pressures system near western Bass Strait is moving to the southwest while a high pressure system lies south of Tasmania. The two systems are producing a humid and unstable northerly flow across the state. Another low pressure system will develop over South Australia on Thursday as the high pressure system moves into the Tasman Sea. The low pressure system will move south on Friday as the accompanying low pressure trough moves across the State.

Damaging winds averaging 60-70 km/h with peak gusts around 110-120 km/h are forecast to develop over elevated areas of the Wimmera, South West, North Central and Central forecast districts Thursday afternoon. Wind gusts to 90km/h are possible elsewhere in these districts Thursday afternoon, mainly associated with heavy rain or thunderstorm activity.

Shower and thunderstorm activity has the potential to produce flash flooding this evening and tonight, mainly over the northeast and central districts.
Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to redevelop over western districts during the early hours of Thursday morning, extending eastwards during the day. Flash flooding is a significant risk associated with this rainband.

In the 24 hours to 9am this morning the highest rainfall totals were in the west of the state with 161mm at Jeparit, 135mm at Mount William, 131mm at Rainbow, 104 mm at Dimboola, 101mm at Horsham. and quite a few other locations in the 75-100mm range.
Since 9am this morning the heaviest rainfall has been over the northeast with 53mm at Mt Buffalo Chalet, 43mm at Eurobin and 38mm at Harris Lane.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
Keep clear of fallen power lines.
Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EDT Wednesday.

Bright sunshine starting to appear here, I'd say thats it for this side of town for now. Not really expecting much from that line out west, expect it to die before it reaches Caroline Springs.
My attention now turns to the developing low. :)

I'm just going to sit back and watch most or the rain/storms die off as it's gets towards me or just simply go around me up here. Hope i'm wrong though.
