Solid thick rain here, cascading water off the trees at the moment. Been so for the last 15mins.

Watch the main line organising to the west and north of Geelong. That is our best chance Melbourne wide. Any observations on that?

3mm so far, steady light rain. Dropped over 8 degrees C with the front.

Puts total for year @ 680 mm, best we have had in years, still down on 820mm average, we have fared far better than the northern, north west burbs.

That line is sharpening up nicely. BOM forecast has included squalls and this line would be pumping out 40+ knot winds.

Little rain but looks like an impressive band of showers to the SW W NW but can only make out the tops due to Dust.

Had 6.8mm here so far and more rain falling and will get another period of rain thanks to this line coming through which will just clip me.

Line to the west is looking very good with some further heating it will really have a go as it comes across later.

Still hearing thunder in the distance, it's a fair way away to my N/NE (either that or the sound is rolling back off the Dandenongs to me). I'm guessing about 7mm from what I can see of the gauge through the windows Karl. I don't want my hair to get frizzy going outside to check (what a girl :lol: ).

Rain has eased off a bit here, moderate now but still continuing.

Edit: Lots of booms of thunder still in the distance, sounds like it's from Boronia/Bayswater direction. AmaroK? Shell? James?

Well I topped out at 12.8mm even though my BoM one says 14mm so I will go with the lower figure on this one. I cannot beleive how the rainfall trained over this area again. DJ - your right about the storms stacking up ahead of the Dandenongs through this region!!!

Hail to report here for about 20 seconds, albeit small!!! Couple of CGs as well (one very close shook the house like a bomb and a purple flash eminated through the house)...heavy rain for about 5 mins then settled. Surprised no wind in it. Can't complain though!

Just light rain here, was in bed as i have bad tonsilitis (anyone know some good cures?)

Saw a very bright flash through the curtains followed by crashing thunder within 3 seconds, dog ran to the door growling.

Strangely there was a few more flashes and thunder within 3 seconds but very weird thunder, unlike normal, just a slight crackle fizz noise like fireworks which you heard echoe across the suburb, but no thunder booming to it...if i hadnt seen the flash and the crackle on the radio i wouldnt have guessed it were thunder!

all gone now, pretty mild except for that one close one!

Very nice 25min+ downpour here. around 9.3mm so far. Plenty of rumbles too, but looks like I missed a cracker just up the road in Warrandyte. Your right Karl - Geelong band shaping up nicely too. A perfect day to finish work early and clean the garage out.
