Yep, the sea breeze is an absolute doozy today (and I say this living in St Kilda). Forget about storms if you're in almost any part of the metropolitan area.

You win some you lose some.;)

G'day

Well 2 hours ago I thought we were in for right smashing again like last Thursday but it all got going and now it's all decaying away. Why is that???

Hoping for a good drop here to back up last Thursday. Grass has come back strong and the towns lake is being pumped againso any help from above makes that even better.

Cheers

You can see it on the Vis satpic:

North Central Vic should see some decent storm action in the coming few hours IMO.

That's just life when you live as close to the coast as Melbourne is. But it's been a great week or so for people living in north Central, they are JUST far enough away from the sea breeze storm killer to make sustained development possible.

Of course if the sea breeze were to die *looks at watch* RIGHT NOW Melbourne may be in with a chance. Stranger things have happened.

Holy bugger, just got 17mm out of that storm and still some more rain to come. Haven't check the weather station for particulars but needless to say the backyards a dam now :D.

north west sky looking dirty and stormy misty...how is that sea breeze, is that what is killing development in the suburbs today? - how does one find the measurements to see if its stopping or too strong?

Well maybe not for Melbourne AWS, but would there be some sort of record of 30+ days for the rest of the Melbourne area?

Got to 34.9 / 19.7 at 3.20p before the southerly kicked in and currently it's 27.4 / 19.2

Hoping that seabreeze doesn't kill it off this time! Got a cell developing around Kinglake moving towards the SW that I'm keeping half an eye on :)

Been watching the up drafts either side of King Lake - now showing red on the radar. Will be interesting to see if they continue to track SSW. If they do they are heading straight for me :)

Yes I'm watching those storms too Rog, it's almost a carbon copy of this time last Thursday when they were marching down from the north and stopped dead just on the northern fringes of the Dandenongs, lets see if these cells have more balls!
I can hear thunder...

Cells starting to pop up west of the bay, after the sea breeze went through, would've been interesting if the breeze wasn't as strong. Need to see if anything comes down off the ranges on the east, here's hoping!

more interesting is the fact it going against it and against everyone who has mentioned .. oh seabreeze and all that, frankly I wouldn't be surprised if it does the same thing in other areas too ;)

Have had 19mm so far today, weather station had a rain rate of 71mm per hour and 12mm in 15 mins during the storm and was the best storm in a while in terms of rainfall. Like the other storms over the last fortnight been developing on our doorstep so have been in the right spot and up to 40mm for the month.
