There's a lot of filling in happening between Stawell and the SA border. That's where the widespread rain is going to come from overnight. If you miss the severe storms and especially if you are on and north of the ranges you will still get smashed by very heavy rain.

Well it doesn't look like it has lost it's intensity over the bay.
Stay safe everyone.
Looks like we are not going to miss out on the action though.

Reports from my cousin in Carrum: Huge dark wall cloud, frequent lightning!

EDIT: It's like a 'cyclone' and its rotating he says!

Just spoke with the outlaws (!) in Mornington. They said they have not had anything like it - could barely hear them over the phone due to the rain..

There's a massive wall of towers at about 15° above the horizon stretching from SW to WNW, looks so so scary.

Everything so far has gone south of me, can't say I'm surprised though. Typical Caroline Springs. The views out there are really something though. Might sneak out and take a few pics.

Hey guys, great reports. Round one here was pretty ordinary but looks better over the next few hours.
Amazing system hey. As always I'm learning all the time thanks to our experts. I reckon I'm as passionate as anyone about this, just ask my wife, who's sick of my waffle!!

just now a cell and heavy rain formed right overhead from clear sky in a matter of minutes - can't recall ever seeing that before. The current atmosphere seems like a powderkeg - very unpredictable and dangerous.
