71mm @ Hamilton is the best in the state so far. Dean you may be looking at 50mm at least.

Storms will get here by 4-6am tomorrow morning IMO. Should be an absolutely brilliant day for rainfall, bay for floods. Fingers crossed for the state. Not nice moving into the Christmas season. Let's hope not too many people are displaced.

DE the storms are coming in from the NW and W overnight at regular intervals, perhaps another band from 3am.

Anthony, good luck. Winds of 140kmh in parts of SA today!!

Showers increasing to the north ahead of this band.

That Renmark complex is looking very nasty and the one behind that. Severe winds and heavy rains are likely.

LOL Twister you are getting an excellent fix! Scary to think where you might be at this time tomorrow. Sultry and still here is Elwood...Cicadas are out in force.

Anyone with evaporative cooling noticing how ineffective it is during this humid period?

Fans are going nicely here B! No A/C here!! :( But pleasant. I think we are all used to this tropical weather, we will freeze come tomorrow night!

Storms propogating eastwards now. Got to get through Ballarat/Meredith/Geelong line to get into Melbourne in tact. Judging by the pace they may be here by 3am.

I'm not sure if it is my place to mention this or if it's not considered important but is there any chance that if people are using members first names instead of the username is there any chance to put the username or abbreviations in brackets because I'm getting lost, being a new memeber, as to who is who and where they are and what storm they are on or under. :-?

Today I need a Radar a little bigger than the 512 and just a tad smaller than the National.

It's quite simply staggering to see.

Given I'm just shy of 12 months into my Weather Nerdship, I'm curious to know how many events like this people have seen in living memory?

In other news, there was just an enormous CG to my North.

Room filling flash, but no rumble.. What's the formula for time since flash vs km away?

Isn't it you count the seconds between the flash then the rumble and that's the Kms away? < I was taught this when i was young! still don't know if it's accurate or old wives tale :D

Well my fourth thunderstorm of today just moved through. Very constant CC's and a few CG's. Roamed over my area for quite a while, over an hour and produced further very heavy rainfall. More flash flooding thanks to that. Also had some strong winds in the initial approach. There was lightning all over the shop with that one, most likely from numerous cells ... to my north, northeast, east, west, northwest. Then I had one right above me and I heard one of my fav sounds .. the sizzling noise!! :D :D Then I though I better get to cover. Haha.

That will probably do it for thunderstorms in my area for now, cannot see much more heading towards in regards to that, but certainly remaining likely overnight. But heavy rain for the next 15 or so hours. Fun, fun, fun!!

Nice line approaching Beaufort atm.

if you hear the sound 5 seconds after seeing the flash it is 1 mile away. 10 seconds = 2 miles. And so on. Seconds divided by 5 = miles away
