Strong wind change just through here-distant lightning to the W, but nothing to report here so far. Temps have dipped a little-will be lucky to score little if any rain with the stalling trough and rainband weakening as it travels east.

Had some awesome lightning, not all that frequent but persistent and some huge forks branching of in all directions at times and the odd loud thunder. It's got really solid again but will be through here in half an hour. NY fireworks won't be able to go ahead at midnight IMO, can't see why they couldn't just do it half an hour later though, pretty sure public transport runs late on NYE.

Well most public transport runs late NYE..except trains to Ballarat, Bendigo (last one 11.45)...well everywhere except Geelong finished before 12.

well it doesn't get much better than this!! Clyve & I hit the road on a local chase this afternoon around 6pm and didn't have to go any further than the area around Dean (fully 25 minutes towards Ballarat).....322 photos later, a couple of circuits of local roads, a dust squall and continuous lightning, 2 power cuts...I'm delighted to say that it's still going!!!! 14.4mm at my place, Clyve had a rain rate of 90mm/hr (I only had 30mm/hr ) and has got to 16.8mm so far...

No fat ladies singing in Trentham!!! :lighting:

(photos coming - only 322 to go through)

Awaiting the departing gift with this rain. Squally NE winds. Should be some ripping gusts coming through in the next hour. Up to 40 knots on the bays.

Still the risk of a thundery shower til dawn.

Best falls along the C ranges with 30-40mm widespread and still some rainfall there. Mt Macedon having nearly 30mm to which is great.

Viewbank tops the list with 27mm locally.

Happy New Year everyone! :partymany:

Very happy with 21.8mm tonight with hopefully more to come tomorrow. EC only has 13mm here for both today and tomorrow so it looks like GFS may be on the money. If so a big day tomorrow to kick off 2010. :D
