The Sky has got that really unstable look, plently of Cu have popped up in the past hour with half decent showers to the south. Melbourne has
already hit 23 so 25-26 is a real chance.

Just popped outside here at work. The wind has brought the surface temps down a little now, and a lots of messy cloud moving over head. avg wind speed would be approximately 25-28km/h.

Sadly radar is showing those smaller cells drying up as the reach metro areas, and then kicking off along the Mornington area. I am crossing my fingers the heat keeps up for a little bit longer for any hope of real rain or storm type weather in this area.

We're 75km south of Bendigo, just stopped for a look at the Kyneton turnoff, very dark, low, unstable air moving rapidly towards Mt Macedon. Resisted the urge to stop too long & snap condensation funnels. Back on the road towards Bendigo now. Very surprised by how cool it is out here.....

Prepare for a very nice squall across Melbourne.

Large hail also a chance too.

Expecting 20-30mm out of the event judging by radar.

THUNDERSTORM FORECAST
Issued at 11:56 am Wednesday, 6 October 2010,
Valid until midnight on Wednesday, 6 October 2010.

A trough of low pressure over western Victoria is producing thunderstorms at the
time of issue. This trough will move slowly eastwards and the warm, moist and
unstable airmass will contract to the east during the day ahead of a cold front
expected to reach western Victoria during the afternoon. Some of these
thunderstorms may become severe with damaging winds, large hail and flash
flooding possible. There is less of a risk west of the trough.

Clyve got a shortlived rotating wall cloud west of Maldon and is currently scouting between Bridgewater & Serpentine on the west side of an elevated storm band. No surface initiaion as yet....surface temps suppressed by rain.... (and I'm sitting in Abbotsford getting virtually no work done!)

temps sitting on about 24 here in bayswater. Clouds have brought a nice shadow over us making it feel quite a bit colder than it is. Winds have stayed relatively constant for the last hour. Radar showing huge increase in the rainfall areas now. Looks like this lot may smash through the rain shadow for sure today.

Hoping this early cloud, storms doesn't dampen the later convection, still some nice clearer air west of this band ahead of the change, this will be the area for big storms later I feel, hopefully spreading to Melb later.

Looking aggro to the NW. Suspect straightline wind to begin then a fairly heavy burst of rain.

Another line of storms likely in Melbourne from 5pm ahead of the wind change.

Won't dry out for a while now!!

LOL @ Jane not getting any work done  I've got an 11 year old here with a broken finger, so we're spending the day in and out of doctor's surgeries, heading off to a plastic surgeon later. Honestly, how inconsiderate of him to break his finger when there's storms about :x :hysteria:
