Wood & gas will soon be banned. Electric heating only. And only to warm your house to 18 degrees. Grab a thick jumper if you’re cold!

Currently 4c with a bone chilling breeze. Keep an eye on this weekend - looks like another significant polar blast. Maybe even colder than the current system.

Worth noting that the Pilbara in WA is having some extraordinarily cold temps today. 18c max in Karratha, 9.6c in Newman. Incredible! (If the Newman temp holds, it'll be their coldest day on record)

I had half an hour of proper snow this afternoon. Was lovely to see it fall.
Max was 4C this morning but down to 0.8C with the snow at 3pm and sitting on a much more moderate 1.7C now.

19.2mm for the event so far here.

It has been a very wintry morning, with showers, gusty winds and a temp around 5 to 6c. It is actually a bit more mild than yesterday. The temp was hovering between 3 and 4c by late afternoon and in the evening, with a max earlier in the day of 7.6c. Not surprised to hear you had snow yesterday Macedonian!

It was a fairly dry end to autumn for us here. The total for May was a modest 32.6mm, but that followed a wet April (118mm) and March (142mm). Hopefully we'll see the IOD kick firmly into negative during the course of this month and July!

Finished May on a below average 43mm, but 6.5mm to 9am gets June off to a reasonable start and makes 20.5mm for the dates (I've tried to extend to 1 June.)

A bit further east, north and even northwest, rain totals look great; not to mention snow dumping in the alps.

A few snowfalls here yesterday but just missed the 'punchy' cells which enabled snow to settle just up the road. Nice to hear of snow up your way Macedonian!

We should start a new thread for the next system, arriving Friday?

Banning wood heaters in non-Metro Melbourne is a terrible idea - forget it. As for gas - well Bass Strait is running out of it, so I don't have a problem with electric-only for new housing estates and even new houses on existing blocks.

We have a solar-gas hot water system which needs replacing. I'm seriously contemplating a solar-electric system given the impending gas shortages in the next few years.

Back to the weather - a bit milder today. Currently 12c.

Yes gas is on the nose. Melb sitting in a nice spot for the SW showers that keep streaming in, heavy at times. Airmass has warmed a bit but still icy.

Wow at the snowfall in the alps which looks to double for this time next week.

3mm rain all up from that lot.

Tipped out another 32mm here from the past two days since last post. 39mm for the week.

Next week looking like a repeat, albeit colder!

Been swamped with work and travel. Good to see the forum back

10mm for the week down here at 43S. Was never going to be a big event for us. Good to see such an awesome start to winter for the mainland and best start to the snow season in decades (probably).

Main feature down here has been persistent chill. Max for the last week have been mostly around 11C with five cracking frosts despite cloud and a bit of wind. The horse paddock has been frozen solid a few times, suggesting mins of around -2C, while up the hill a bit the AWS near the house has been dropping to 1 to 2C.

Looking forward to a polar blast next week. Should see snow down here dip close to sea level on a few days, and the week end with 50cm or snow around Kunanyi

As I noted in the new thread, it will be weird if you get more snow at your new place next week than Ferny Creek gets!
