Just passed 16mm here now and still falling :D About 15 minutes off passing 20mm. Latest GFS has about 35mm so could be onto something.

Spots just northwest of the city have passed 25mm which seem to be the heaviest falls so far.

Otways seem to have got 20-30mm most spots.

Is an areas of showers following the initial rainband so hoping it continues to add up all day.

30 mm at Mt Macedon, best Christmas present ever. So grateful.
So sad to hear about Wye River and Seperation Creek. The Victorian climate is just too unforgiving and brutal.

So annoyed the auto rain gauge got blocked.

But thank god i emptied the manual one which is now showing a healthy 20mm so far. Very very happy.

Hows that pie tasting this morning Skywalker? :P
Had a peek at the Nylex through the binoculars (too wet to go out) but couldn't see the water level, which presumably means there's 26mm in there.

Good morning everyone. :D :D :D

What a feeling waking up to that lovely sound of steady rain falling on the colorbond roof. :redguy:
The best part is everyone has received something this time. The 20mm plus that we have received back in the western suburbs has been long overdue and will give my gardens that desperately needed boost.

It's still coming down here in Cowes, expect it to continue down here for a little while yet.

Very tasty thanks Geoff. ;)

Always happy to eat that humble pie when it comes to the fickle rain out in the western suburbs. :P

Rain totals were a bit lower in the Outer SE but still 22.4mm's up to 9am here and another 2.0mm's since then.
Heaviest rain I have had since 28.8.15 when 32.2mm's fell in 24 hours.
Doesn't look like that more to come, afternoon should be mainly fine. :D

20 mm exactly here; happy with that. Finishes the year on a good note and takes us comfortably over 600 mm for 2015.

We've only had two sub 600 mm years in our 20 years here, 2006 & last year - nice not to add another!

48mm here. 40mm to 9am and 8mm since. Looks like we've got a bit lucky with the band peaking over us for quite a period. Could well add a couple of more mm's with drizzle still falling and some SW'ly showers to come. Rain is absolutely fantastic and SO needed up here. Trees and garden were starting to look really stressed and the forest getting dry enough to burn :( . Things were green in the garden including the lawn but only just clinging on from showery band to showery band.

That's our second heaviest rain day for the year - best was a 48mm in February.

Looks like most of the Dandenongs have had 35 to 50mm so shared around well... a little lighter in northern parts of the range. Bit of runoff, but most the rain is just going straight into the ground.

Olympic Parks' 30.6mm is the best fall for the year :D

8mm here, not bad I guess. Cool day for once up here, needed the relief from the heat.

Mine wasn't blocked but still only registered 1mm - not sure what it was but I've cleaned it out now it's dry - yes, supposed to clean it out BEFORE it rains... anyway!

The non-emptied manual gauge has 26mm and the nearest AWS at Zerbes Reserve about a kilometre up the road shows 25mm so I'll go with that.

Half-burnt garden already showing some signs of relief!

That seems to be the case, "only" 30mm here in Olinda, but a wonderful steady soaking 30mm it was.
Looks as if most of the showers this afternoon have been concentrated down Lorne way, which must help the situation down there.
GFS not interested in another drop this time next week, but EC has 10mm for this area, which would be a great follow up.
Edit; EC has updated to give us ~40mm over 4 days in a weeks time! :o

Mmm, there's a fat, juicy low loitering up around FNQ that I want a piece of. Question is, will there be a front or trough big enough to steal us some of that monsoon sugar?

Not sure I recall when we had 38.6mm. But pretty green about it..

LOL. Was a decent upper trough trailing the low overnight. Looking at obs may well have been the odd snow flurry about the tops of Baw Baw and Lake Mt. Just west of here got right under that band of showers and picked up nearly 10mm.

Looks like the events all done. Almost all of central an eastern Vic seems to have got 25 to 50mm. Could well be the best event for the year in many spots. Locally we got a FANTASTIC 51mm :D :D :D That should kill our fire season for a few weeks. We were tracking the worst I had seen it at the time of year.

So sad this didn't come a day earlier and save all the pain on the Otways Coast :(

Waiting now for the next system. Progs are trying to bring a monsoonal low down over us in about five days. That low in the NT has been dropping massive falls so certainly has potential as it drifts south.

51 is great HB!
We had 4mm more after dinner last night so we are up to 38.5mm now.
Probably one of our best efforts for the year which in itself is pretty sad.
At work in Macedon I have only recorded three days this year with a + 20mm total.

4.1C here this morning. Quite cold.

We manged another 3mm from those late showers, ending with 33mm for the event. A real saviour for this season, with the prospect of more to come in the New Year, things are looking much better now. A cool 11C here at 10.30am.
