Severe wind here too, absolutely roaring through the trees. No rain yet....
(Edit, heavy squally rain and thunderous wind!)

My god. The wind! !!!!

I just saw a couple of transformers blow up. Half of the area to the south of me is dark. Dandenong, endeavour hills, doveton etc.

Radar has been very unreliable. Doubt I'd get wet crawling. The trees are raining more leaves than the sky is raining water drops.

That wind squall just came through here went from 2 to 3 knots to gusts of 36 knots - 66kmh on my PWS quite a shock.
Bugger all rain though.

One of the few things I like about modern day estates is the underground power. Hardly ever experience blackouts here, even during severe weather events. :)

That wind was unbelievable when it came through. Looked like a tropical cyclone! :o

Still raining steady here, badly need it. Tank was empty.

Crazy wind. Don't think I've seen it like that up here. Thankfully, just for a few minutes. No trees down here, by there will be a fair number of branches.

Lots of rumbles, but hardly any rain with the storms. Odd... Radar not consistent with what's on the ground :? Rainband now lining us up for a few hours.

Wow look at some of the wind gusts from AWS around Melbourne.
66 knots - 122kmh at Melbourne AP. 71 knots 132kmh at Fawkner Beacon.
69 knots - 128kmh at St Kilda Harbour.
Have to be some damage around .
Meanwhile just 0.4mm's of rain despite all the orange and yellow over us on the radar.

You can see what I meant hillybilly! Steady rain continues here and the wind has backed off to just strong after that crazy period around the wind change.

Not surprised by the wind readings Dane posted. Some people may have been lucky enough to miss the big winds but believe me, if you got hit they were extreme.

Power out here too. Wind has eased and nice steady rain falling.

I'm not enjoying bagging BOM all the time lately, but I'm at a loss why they took so long to issue a STW - basically it was issued for our area after the worst storms had passed.

On a brighter note, ticked over 10 mm and still coming down.

Wind has died, rain never began living.. Another boring blow through. Own bladder would do a better job at watering the garden.

Dane it was pretty insane when that wind hit in Williamstown at work, pretty calm before hand then it hit like a wall :o

Raining nicely here, the intensity is more true to the radar now but still over-reading a litte. 5mm at the time being with another 5mm to come by the looks of the radar.

Yeah, it's much more believable now (what's on the radar), solid rain coming down atm. A few places did sneak in 3-5mm with the storms, so I guess we'll just put it down to how fast moving the squall line was and the fact it was fairly dry ahead of it (the moisture came in right as the storms hit and has only now become established over us). A lot of what was in those storms didn't make it to the ground.
