Temp trying to creep back up to 30C-currently very oppressive with 45% RH and DP 15.1C which has nudged up with the nearby storms.

Still constant lightning flashes to my SE. Seaspray has been stuck under storms for a good 2 hrs now, they've been in the prime firing line as they take the typical Stradbroke track.

Area just SW of Kinglake, (St Andrews?) looks like it just got smashed on radar. Would imagine torrential rain and hail likely from that. Another lull here but rain filling in to the west, the trough has stalled as predicted and it is turning into one of the best summer rain bands in ages.

Still going along here nicely - although the lightning is getting brighter and the thunder louder, doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon, rain still going here - not as heavy as before though.

*WOW - one almighty long and loud rumble! Love it - definitely a night to remember. :)

Looking right over that region Andrew right now from the window. Massive CGs plowing into there every 15s or so. Heavy rain continuing here. Up to 11mm so far which is excellent!!!

Had to be at the very least torrential flooding rain near Kinglake, unbelievable.

Certainly shaping up to be one of the best for a long while...wonder if it will follow the 95/96 NYE and redeveloped before 8am with some insane rainfall due to the the high moisture. Its actually got so much punch that i hope it stalls enough..one thing for sure the atmosphere will be so rich in moisture tomorrow it wont be funny.

All the green and blue at the back of this has just been drizzle at best. Great timing for the CBD tho, erps there goes an early bunger in the background.

Been sitting on the deck for the last hour and have copped some brilliant CG's and about 10mm.
Kinglake/Toolangi and surrounds will be seeing 30mm+ from that cell, pretty crazy rain rates.

Storm has really picked up in the last 30mins and now is throwing out bolts like the're out of fashion! Doesn't look really rainy but a new deck is forming just infront of the storms and this is just starting to rain now so may get crenched afterall. Well back out to the show! feeling much better now! :jumpingmany: :partymany: what a great new year show!

Going offline until this thing is over so happy new year all! :stir:

Storms redeveloping along the troughline here. Much better CGs and thunder with this lot.

Easterlies developing to the west, what's up with that? :o

Just had an insane crawler here!!! Rain still coming down. A lovely drop. The third time after hot days we have scored reasonable rainfall and all on Thursdays!!!

Hope we can get more. Winds are tending northerly here.

DJ, your expert thoughts on tomorrow?

Sorry Andrew, I started editing your post instead of quoting.

In regards to your Easterlies call, the more the better, to push the trough back over west!!
Still raining here, albeit lightly.

Good chances for tomorrow as this front had no guts. Temp rising, just drizzle, variable winds, Id expect a repeat tomorrow but earlier. 22 outside, better than 40!

All quiet here in Flinders except for the crickets! 7mm at home in Melbourne, and will check the gauge here in the morning.

Here are some pics of the developing line before it hit. First pic is of a cb way out east over Gippsland somewhere. The land at the front is either Phillip Island or the eastern side of Western Port Bay.
