Cant believe how close we were to copping that initial cell! dang.

RAAF base may record some measurable rain out of that one-great little entree for better mains later on hopefully :P

Still looks threatening to our W and NW with Cu trying to form. Murky blackness to the far west.

The majority of the line seems to have now passed Flinders, but what a sensational show!! Beautiful pink lightning and awesome structure with mamas as the line got closer. Great contrasting sky! I'll attempt to upload some pics. :lighting: :lighting: :lighting:

No thunder but a bucket load of CC's.
Huge tropical raindrops and gusty winds.

OMG Amazing light show - every 2 seconds is strobing lightning - CCs, CGs, Crawlers the lot! Very heavy rain for about 5 minutes and getting soaked on my quick run to the car - booming rumbles! This is a fantastic end to an otherwise crappy NYE. Would love another one purely for photo ops as unfortunately I had an emergency to attend to. I'm willing to lay the bet that the fireworks are cancelled??

So much for David Brown's 'dry change' ROFL. Only the far SW and far NE were supposed to get it apparently.

Oh Well.

Probably not as heavy here as many other places, particularly Melbourne and eastern suburbs but very solid and heavy rainfall that looks like it could persist for a couple of hours yet. Got a patch of classic torrential stuff before. Other than that just your standard squall line with a decent amount of lightning/thunder.

Excellent to see that there are little gaps Andrew that everyone is getting a drink. Thunder getting louder here. Rain still heavy. 9mm here in 15 minutes. Still coming down nicely up here in the Yarra Valley, weather station working a treat here!!!
