What a beautiful view this morning of thick fog couldn't see 50-100 metres ahead of you but the fog was shallow and above 50-100 metres it was clear therefore I could still see the sun and cloud above it unreal sight! And this was in Sunshine
Dark and murky grey skies to my north from my extremely limited and obscured view out my window here in Hawthorn. Our poor old dilapidated house has one large roof leak in the main hallway, and since the Hail storm in March, another leak has developed which threatens to cave our roof in every time there is heavy rain. Hopefully myself and the weather gods can establish a trade off between a heavy thunderstorm and maintaining the structural integrity of my house!
Hoping for a ripper day today after this initial band-this certainly is one of the more memorable periods of weather I've ever witnessed (and the last 3 months!).
LOL Pengaz, was just about to post that I have the roof tiler here finally fixing my roof after the hail storm and I am standing with a big whip spurring him along to get it done before this rain hits! The situation is not nearly as kinky as it sounds, by the way
Light rain approaching us here, main stuff heading in our direction is still back over the ranges. 21C/88% RH/19C DP and the huntsmen are out - 2 this morning already
Given the tracks that the storms followed yesterday around Mildura, I think Bendigo is in the firing line today, and just a tast of whats coming tomorrow.
Plenty of low cloud here at the moment, but very thin. Feels very muggy too... great weather to unload a 10ton Truck in....lol
I live in a world where I dont see to believe, but I believe to see...
hahah hilarious Lily! Looking very black to my north with a short period of heavy rain about to set in Guys next door are removing an asbestos roof so the timing of rain couldn't be more worse for them lol. Loving the look of the rain and thunderstorm situation for this afternoon
This trough has been very frustrating, only have had light rain over the last 7 days amounting to 31mm. Looking towards next week for something decent.
Nathan Morris 2013 Rainfall
Jan - 3.8mm
Feb - 27.0mm
Mar - 0.0mm
YTD - 30.8mm
Looks like there is a nice clear slot behind the band of rain coming through the metro area at the moment. Let's hope it gets things going this afternoon
Rog.

Got a day off so I hope we can snag a storm here. Baro steady, no rain since early yest morning, calm and overcast and those cicada's are having a go at it while things are still dry!

You are complaining about 31mm in 7 days? Seriously?
I suggest you enjoy the rain while it lasts, regardless of how much you get.
I am keeping my eye on the area of clear air behind this approaching rain 'band'. If storms are going to fire, clear air is where you want to be.

Hoping to wake up to further heavy showers tomorrow here-feels very humid and unsettled out there tonight. Wish I had a rain guage here to...
I used to put a saucepan out when I was up in Mackay!
Yeah the old saucepan trick. You can use anything so long as it is a cylinder, as in the top of the container is the same size as the bottom. Then just use a ruler to measure.
I don't think the BoM would accept that as an accurate measurement though
