Was a lot of thunder and lightning last night about 0200hrs and again 0500hrs. We had 9mm rain that was really good BUT not looking forward to 50-150mm the ABC weather just said for us this weekend. See the Hume Dam is 99.78% this morning and going up so not letting it go yet.People below the wall had minor flooding last week.

We had distant thunder and one brief heavy rainfall at 3am. Cooler and fine/calm here this morning 1012 hPa. Rain total about 2mm.

The met office at E Sale advised that storms will occur Bairsdale-border both on ranges and in S today. A chance only, for us in N Gippy later on today and humidity rising steadily for the rest of week and a stormy day Fri. He mentioned things could get interesting on the weekend.

After the 30C day yest, this morning the S side of the shed is covered in lokey shells, an early start to cicada season!

Yikes, sounds like Ruckles car copped a hammering. People here reported hail as big as gumballs yesterday. I wasnt home so i missed the lot, I was on the 46th floor of the sofitel and had a pretty good view to the north-west.

Nice pics everyone!

Just a partly cloudy day here with generally mild conditions. Fairly warm when the sun comes out.

Already some shower and thunderstorm activity towards the northeast of the state, should mainly affect areas east of a line Wangaratta to Orbost.

Geexe louise, look at all those pics! Some from new members too which is great to see. That cell, unfortunately yesterday it was about when there was no sat coverage of the area in near real time. it showed as a small white cicrcle at one stage on the vis sat about an hour before the photos of the MINI TORNADO, but none of the infrared etc was anywhere near it. A small pic in todays herald sun of a tennis ball and 3 cm ish hailstones for comparison taken near Romsey I believe.

Nothing down here yesterday, not a drop. Reeds are 20 foot tall in the wetlands and grass in the paddocks is 10 feet high.

Awesome stuff guys! Some amazing images on there. It is amazing that a storm like that formed on a day where the ingredients were there, but by no means extraordinary.

Will struggle to get 28 today IMO...but I expect widespread convection this arvo with this cold air this morning.
