Sheet lightning in Templestowe just started to appear. I wonder why the radar isn't picking it up.

Well a few crumbs from that lot, 1.5 mm and lots of lightning. But the 512 radar shows more promise.

Btw Mum & Dad at Anglesea have had over an inch in the last 24 hrs - no pie for them!

Radar indicating we're on the edge of some rain here, yet not a drop has fallen over our way... yet ;) Loving the commentary and the humble pie eating that's going on in here tonight :D Looks like it's going to stay active across the state for some time to come, too.

Edit: Oh, and Stefan, you be careful young man! Wagging my virtual finger at you :P

I'll try again - my last 2 posts disappeared without trace! :(
I was just pointing out the big difference in the temperatures from the still warm eastern side of Melbourne to the rapidly cooling west side. 24-25c in the east, 15-17c in the west - with the storms in the middle!
(Edit, just started raining here).

Is there a chance there's a bit more going on in the radar hole than what we're seeing?

That came up quickly Lily. Geoff when a lot of people are posting you have to make sure your post goes through. Always check if there is a second submit button. I know it's annoying

That just happened to me then saying another post had been made so I am submitting again

There's always uncertainty over there Lily, but there's a black core near Nhill now, so things are definitely happening over there! :)

Those cells around the western border must be huge considering the radar coverage around that area with that black core near Nhill really nasty and dangerous. Will take some crops through that area I'd say and might for some time to come.

Rhino. :) :)

Need to watch that Nhill cell, it's started moving northeast, but could be the wind cange pushing it?
(Edit, thunder rumbling here).

Gosh it's heading straight for Nhill. Agree with you Rhino re: coverage and the intensity of that storm, nasty.

Just had our first flash and rumble here. Rain is sporadic off and on with a very strong smell of rain in the air.
