Quite nasty weather today, certainly loving it!

I was in Belgrave earlier this morning and got to witness - and photograph - that electrical storm that some of you in the SE suburbs mentioned earlier (around 10:30-11AMish)... it sprinkled a bit of rain and then swept southwards, and before I know it it's pumping out a few VERY angry CGs, including a possible Positive CG that lands not far away, too close for comfort perhaps (sure heard the thunder)... couldn't get any of the lightning on camera but at least I walked away with storm cloud photos!

Quite wet and windy at my house atm, hoping this rainband clears off and that those MASSIVE thunderstorms will somehow reach Melbourne in the next few hours! Does it look like they're starting to form into a squall line or is just me? lol

Would also be interesting to see what happens weatherwise up in Northeast Victoria, including Corryong

One very small rumble just now - sounded pretty high up rather than distant.

That was from the thunderstorms developing towards Oakleigh and further SE.

Anthony there will be more where that came from in that area today. Vicious storms on the NW border right now with destructive winds.

I know that we are well out of the main action for today down here in Sale, but thought I would report that we have just had a short but heavy shower and I have heard thunder.

Doppler wind data derived from the Melbourne (Laverton) radar at 1pm also shows a fair bit of low level shear with N'lies/27kt at a height of 700m grading to NNW'lies/35kt at 1km and NW'lies/38kt by 2km.

Any clearance/sunshine expected between this rainband that's been affecting us here in the eastern suburbs and those storms out to the northwest? Sure hope so, means a better chance of decent photos

The forcing is sufficient under the cloud it seems and any break in sunshine will ensure severe status on thunderstorms in those areas in sunshine. Melbourne looking very interesting right about now.

Looking like we are seeing the trough edge a little further into VIC now. Huge storm coming into frame on the far left of the frame on Yarrawonga 256km. All this activity is spreading SE into Melbourne.

Very dark here around maryborough in the last half hour. Rumbles started again just saw a clear CC in the distance, area around Swan hill/Ouyen very active
