Just about to kick off here, a few bolts of lightning and the not to distance thunder, hope it doesn't fizzle, temp dropped quite a bit in the lazt few minutes

Ye, so it is fair to say Melbourne is in for some lightning tonight..

Judging from the radar, the direction of the band, and the lightning tracker, we are in for a chance.

EDIT: Was all quiet just a little moment ago, now it is gusting like Craaaazy!

Just had the big wind change go through here in Burwood. Went from warm NW breeze to a cool, moist-smelling SW wind in seconds.

Everyone was talking about the rain shadow, but I knew once the wind change moved through, the shield would fail.

Great to hear lightning visuals, can't wait to see some for myself..

Well it is good to see that today was not a bust day in terms of the development of thunderstorms. You can never give up, to,day it was the moisture that was the struggler, but we still got development in the end, even though some people had given it no chance. Nevertheless, they generally developed within the areas expected to. If I was in melbourne there is a fairly significant risk later this evening for those thunderstorms to the northwest to move into the area, however I would be watching signs for any weakening of the cells.

Very interesting trace from the weather station in Trentham today.....pressure dropped 12hPa in 12 hours (bomb!), and just after the bottom of the drop the winds died right down...the the pressure started to rise and the wind got gusty again.....

Big crack of thunder, quite a few flashes to the west and NW, it's trying to rain.

Lots of lightening right overhead here, every couple of minutes. Quite heavy rain too for the last half hour or so after spitting on and off since late afternoon. Fortunately the wind has eased off. Temp 9.5 C (froze cleaning the gutters!)

Extremely lightning active storms developing here, saw a whole network of forks just before, loud thunder, just wish it would come down in the form of rain. Just light stuff atm.

Still no rain even though the weatherzone radar shows it is and has been raining here, wind is dying down. Storms developing north West from here hoping they will make it this far. No tv now had to turn it off things were starting to flicker with the brown out. I hope someone is getting a good light show and some rain with it. i will sit up a bit longer in the dark, cause I wont sleep anyway in the anticipation that we might get a storm! I am a bit excited, not sure why but it is just quiet eary here at the moment but that maybe just because the power is off. laptop charge is getting low grrrrr.

No lightning here but boy did that front rip through, it's absolutely howling here, not much rain either. Temp has dropped 10c in 10mins. I can hear things getting airbone and smashing about. It's really full on

Had 3 storms pass through here in the last hour, nothing great but a few cc's and alot of thunder and probably 2mm, but great to hear and see it again.
