Wow Geoff you have almost had 900mm! Is your rain gauge obstructed by all the tall trees? I was up in the Dandenongs last weekend and everything was really wet, although i always remember it being like that. The average annual fall is about 1300mm isn't it?

Yes Stefan, 1300mm per year is about right, and I'm well on the way to beating that total with our wettest months still to come. As for our huge trees, they are all well away from our house, as we are on a 5 acre block with about 1 acre of European style gardens around our house. You should've let me know you were coming up here, I would've been happy to give you a guided tour of our patch of paradise up here. :D

August total 104.5 mm, ytd 661 mm.

Since I began keeping detailed records in 1997, this is:

- our 2nd highest Jan-August total (beaten last year with 784.5 mm)
- our highest winter total of 344.5 mm (next in line 2010 with 317 mm)
- our only winter to exceed 100 mm each month.

No wonder it seemed so wet - it was!

Well winter has come and gone! Hurrah!!

one of the wettest Winters for quite some time, felt like what I remember it was like when I was growing up; grey wet and cold every day!

Now for the numbers

YTD= 628mm (YTD 2011=680.1mm)
Winter=347mm 37 wet days (winter 2011=186.5mm 19 wet days)[in contrast jan>mar 2011= 369.5mm]
August 2012=104mm

Well what will spring bring?? It will get warmer & wetter? With increase in warmth the chance for storms so in theory the next 3 months should yield ~440mm????

Spring 2011 yielded=263mm
