Nearly fell off my chair this morning when I saw the 64km WZ radar, massive blob of red/yellow sitting in the bay, lurking off the coast. Looks like western suburbs getting a good soaking atm and the rain has started up here too.
Good morning i've recorded 31mm since midday yesterday.Very very welcome after such a dry 6wks.I noticed the BOM has revised our max temp down to 10C from 13C.
Wow looks amazing; was just watching the radar archive for last night and the ranges got smashed! Does there have to be a hole in the radar right over me!?!? I think there a big of a problem with it inthearea.

Ha ha, patience BT, even the great Melbourne desert over your side is going to be awash very soon!
Yes Melbourne is right in the sweet spot with this system now, going to be one of the wettest days for a long while.

ATM I don't thinks it's anything to worry about nafets. Damaging winds in the central area aren't expected until this afternoon/evening.
Well it's been raining here in Templestowe for a while now. Not that heavy though. I've noticed that the BOM has changed the expected rainfall amount for Melbourne to 30-50mm!
Looking very ominous. As promised the low is near the Prom, which is perfect for Central areas. Low still hasnt deepened yet, just meandering along.
Tonight should really hit its straps, and become very windy, coastal areas around the West Gippsland area will be lashed.
Would be a real shame to the desal washed away now wouldnt it? But a real chance of some fairly big flooding through that area.
Easily 50mm of rain, more through the yarra ranges and catchments. Keep an eye on the Melbourne water site to see how much this decreases our water supplies.
