Those totals are just stupid - and they're not even surprising anymore! One day Sydney is going to cop 1000mm in a single day and it'll be like "yeah, and?"

Gotta be honest, the world is in a mess right now. From historical fires, to covid, to war in Europe, to historical floods up north. It's like a nightmare that never ends.

Don't want to be a doomsayer, but modern civilization is in uncharted waters and two thirds of us don't even realize.

Back on topic, another couple of mm makes 11mm today - best fall in a month.

Rest of the week looks good for a few more mm, before decent falls on the weekend. Starting to feel like an end to the (local) dry spell.

Grounds wet, beats crunchy as it was,
Little more for the tanks would be great .

Another mm overnight. Now had twice as much for March than we had for the whole of February. On water tanks here’s, so can now have a long shower :D

Messy system. There’s a nasty little east coast low moving west in the Tasman sea which move onto Sydney about this time tomorrow. For the rest of us humid easterly flow with not a long of focus. Showers and storms and rain, but hit and miss.

Looks like a big end to the system for VIC and northeast Tasmania towards the weekend. May spill into southern Tasmania but looks a bit hit and miss.

Shocking up north. Just off the scale. Have a few friends with relatives who have lost everything. Insurance is completely unaffordable with premiums running towards $20,000 a year for flood cover, so can’t insure, can’t sell, can’t move. When we moved we wanted a place which was well above sea level, nowhere near a flood plain, lower bushfire risk, and as far south as you could get (where warming is slower and rainfall likely to slightly increase). Not hard to see where things are headed.

A bonus 7mm overnight brings us to 18mm, exceeding all the forecasts - nice surprise!

A few more mm overnight takes to almost 40mm for the past week. The ground is quickly turning from dust to green. I haven't seen it this green in early-March since perhaps 2012.

Huge downpours near St Arnaud. Nearly 100m in the past week there.

The weekend looks more and more like a Southern Vic system. Maybe 10mm on Saturday here.

1mm total so far for March, bringing me to 49mm YTD. Still very crunchy underfoot. Maybe some rain on the weekend. Hate the humidity.

Further mm here. Next system heads straight for Tasmania then stalls at about Cape Grim, dies and new low forms over mainland southeast Australia. Looks substantial for Victoria on Saturday with widespread moderate to heavy falls. Good autumn break possible for those looking for one, though being thundery timing and details will matter a lot.

Then stall on the east coast with potential for more heavy falls :? EC has something like 200mm around Sydney early next week :o

Incredible amounts of rain on the east coast, especially with even more forecast. We had a further 2mm here yesterday morning taking us to 16mm for the past couple of days. Sunny day today as we wait for the next system to move in.

Certainly looks a good setup for a cut-off low to form over SE Aus tomoz/Sunday:

Its still green in Gippsland, but an inch or so from this looming event would create the autumn break in these parts.

43mm here, very heavy overnight, all the gutters overflowing. That's more than January and February combined! Should start to green things up a bit.

Some decent falls! A mere 25.5mm here, but we're up to 45mm for the dates. Great start to autumn after a dry Feb.

67.6mm here since yesterday evening. I was woken up several times with torrential rain on the roof as well as a massive crack of thunder that shook the windows, guessing around 4:30am. Takes us to 83.6mm for the dates and a very welcome start to the month. Should be some showers about this morning, mainly in southern areas.
