It looks extremely windy tomorrow. I'd say gusts up to 120kph around the bay.

That august 2005 sea level event completely missed Mt Macedon, it snowed just about everywhere else that day. I was in my little tin shack up on the mount for the whole event and didn't see a flake :?
It was sunny windy and extremely cold but no snow at all. I think it hovered just below zero all day which is pretty amazing considering it was sunny a lot of the day. Cold in a tin shack!

Hmmm, a bit apprehensive about those winds coming! We've got visitors from the UK coming to stay on Saturday, and if we lose our power (quite likely) we'll be in a cold house with no water on tap!!! :sccary:

Tomorrow is a day to stay off the roads
Tie down loose items and stay away from big overhanging trees
This is going to be a Severe event
Hate to be alarmist but best be prepared
Love wild weather though and will be taking pics over the bay
Thursday and Friday

Going to be a fun day tomorrow, am driving a hilux van around the bay. Got the video installed so if I get tipped I will load it here. Working outside for the rest of the week with a nice view to the NW. Might take my kite. :o

(Piggy-backing off another forum):

-35c at 500hp temps for Friday afternoon, nearing record low temps for this observation.

What does this mean, does anyone know?

BoM going for snow above 500m from Thursday night to Saturday night. A whole 48 hours. Certainly sustained if it comes off with a bit off added moisture.

I still reckon snow will get a lot lower than 500m Friday night at least. The setup looks right on some models.

Opinions?

Hey guys really enthusiastic about this one, just wondering if there's any chance of snow at my elevation for this system and what would be the best time for a snow chase!

Hoping for something out of this system! Been a while since we have had decent snow around here, 2008 was the last really good fall we had... Well overdue I think :D :D

20o8 was the last great fall here too. It was fantastic, it snowed from the afternoon all through the night and we had really good cover on the ground two days after.
I've decided to take Friday off, it will at least be nice to be at home when the really cold air is around.

2005... Got a few flurries of genuine snow in the afternoon here at elevation of about 60m asl, and then again at night. Didn't settle. I also remember heavy sleet on Swansea Rd near Lilydale.

As for 2008, this photo was taken by me in Olinda. I am facing Westerly towards the centre of Olinda (off the main road to the right.
