A few spots of rain in Bayswater this morning. At least the clouds are providing some respite from radiant heat...

Steamy here this morning, alternating between 32C and 33C atm after it got to around 40C here yesterday (which traditionally has been a rare milestone). We did manage a minimum under 20C though (19.7C)

5mm overnight from the storms which is the difference between the garden carking it and still looking half decent. From what the models are telling me there is still a fairly decent chance of further storms tonight and even a bit of a chance tomorrow night. Friday even looks like there could be something developing along the change, eg. a squall line or something.

For most of the week leading up to this event, models had us right in the sweet spot for precipitation here. I think it is the combination of late evening sea breeze fronts lifting the humidity and lowering temps and the effect of the ranges on storms coming in from the NW.

BTW, currently 38C in Melbourne and 36C in Adelaide. Melbourne is forecast 41C today and Adelaide 45C which is a little interesting.

I dare say it will go higher than 41 in the city today???? About 39 now. All depends on cloud cover.

Weatherzone is showing the cloud as dissipating, but then forecast storms this afternoon will mean it will re-develop.

Let's wait and see...

Opinions?

Can hear the water meter clicking away while trying to save my plants,

Yeah incredibly hot night only got as low as 27.9c the second hottest night I have experienced here.
Some brief gusty winds about 2.30am got up to 27 knots on my PWS. The temperature rose with that and it got back to 34c at 3am.
Was some distant lightning last night but no rain or thunder.
The cloud is keeping a lid on the temps a bit here was 36.9 at 9.51am but then it dropped back a bit, currently 36.2c.
Could still easily jump back over 40c later.
Don't know if we will get any storms later or not, if we do I don't think we will get much rain out of them.

42 degrees here in Brighton, another degree or so and it will be the same as yesterday!!

That's right Nick, weak trough down there will slowly move north today. Probably will be the focus for thunderstorm activity this afternoon especially in the south with better moisture and convergence. Looks like damaging winds are going to be highly likely in thunderstorms again and they look mostly dry, but in saying that, there will be some that produce rainfall as well. Look out for severe thunderstorm warnings this afternoon.

Looks like convection now occurring and forming echoes near CBD. Wind change going through Avalon now but temps hitting day highs?!

City surpassed it's forecast max (depending on what station you use).

I see there's mention of a change?? in this forum. Certainly doesn't look like it looking at the temps Lol

This is very weird...why are the south westerlies pushing temps even higher?

The proper change looks to be coming through now. Geelong has dropped to 33 from 40. And first sparks on the change showing up now
