This happened a number of hours ago and is definitely confirmed. The Courier Mail and ABC are the best to follow re this rapidly developing news story.

I just realised my comments did not make sense. :( I meant to say that the unconfirmed report was that West End was totally under water. Sorry

And no warning? A crime if correct, a brutal unprovoked assault on a community that desperately needed a warning to survive. Our taxpayers money at work.

Once the dust settles, questions will be posed and answers demanded.

I will never forget Bligh' statement last night that the storm came from "out of nowhere". it could be seen offshore, traverse the Sunshine Coast and, well, you know the rest.

Did you hear the developer who rang up the ABC today? I missed it but my brother told me the story.

Much of the Lockyer Valley is in low lying areas that should never be fit for development, but councils being the greedy scum they are, approved everything to expand at a million miles an hour. The developer said that councils and governments are responsible here, and he would be right. May not have saved the lives as the BOM were asleep at the wheel but still councils shouls also be held accountable.

BOM made a statement at press conference regarding Toowoomba storm and mentioned that it couldn't be forecast due to insufficient grid resolution in their models.

Energex are shutting down power in Brisbane CBD at 7am tomorrow morning. One third of Ipswich to be affected by floodwater.
