Had 22mm this morning about 9am. Filled the tank nicely. Just wondering whether we will miss the storm line.We are sort of in between. No sign of storm cells yet here
Quite amazed at the temps on radar.across Vic .
The temps on the wind change are warmer than the temps in front of the change . I have never seen that.before LOL
We have had some cool East n/easterlies today
Temps are ranging from 17 deg c in Ballarat and up to 21deg C east of the change in front of the wind change with North easterlies . and behind the wind change with North westerlies the temps are some 8 deg warmer !!LOL 8-)

curently 10 deg c at hotham and baw baw baw

Horsham 28 deg c and Hamilton 26 deg C after wind change.
Usually the wind change bring cooler temps but this one the temps will get warmer LOL. Quite different!! 8-)

Longerong in the west was 21 deg c at 1.30pm before the change and now after the change the temp is now 27.1 deg C with a west n/westerly. Amazing really!! 8-)
Where has all this cool air from the north East come from???

EDIT
THis current line of storms has just made the weather zone news!
"A broken line of thunderstorms stretches from Charleville to Melbourne along a trough, producing periods of heavy rain and locally severe storms."

we have thunder here. 3 rumbles. Sky still looks non storm like, milky grey white, featureless. Weird as! Thick strata rubbish must be hiding the monster that is coming this way.

Lots of rumbles, but nothing visible yet like flashes.... No rain either, yet.
Has been 4 recloses on the power grid though... Just waiting for the lights to go out.

That line needs to develop right up to Birchip for it to hit here.

Getting a few decent gusts of wind here. Just home from dinner and frankly very surprised to not see something going on to the north of us - it's black from what I can see here peering through the breaks in the trees!

Is that lot west of Mortlake heading towards you Jake?

Not that far from melb now. Def think the wind shear is helping to intensify linear storm formation...still expecting it to weaken but I reckon it will be moderate to heavy with embedded storms when it pushes through central areas

Mildura residents outraged as floodwaters return
Sunday December 18, 2011 - 18:15 EDT

Mildura in February, 2011 - Audience submitted

Homes and businesses are flooded after the north-west Victorian town of Mildura received twice its average monthly rainfall in two hours.

Storms brought nearly 60 millimetres of rain, causing extensive flash flooding.

The Mildura Council says several pipelines which could have prevented the flood damage will be ready as soon as next month.

But local residents are angry that they have been flooded again, in Victoria.

"It's pretty pathetic. It's been nine months now and people are still getting flooded," one resident said.

"It's happened constantly over the last 11 years. It's got to a point of being ridiculous."

"It's probably about the seventh time it's happened over the last 18 months," another resident said.

"We're sort of all getting sick of it here now. I was actually going to go fishing today but I may as well put the boat in here and just take it for a run."

Thousands of people across the state were forced from their homes in January by heavy rain.

An interim report into the flooding found the State Emergency Services was "overwhelmed" by the scale of the emergency and the CFA was forced to take on extra responsibilities.

Oh, those poor people, right before Christmas, too. It happened to us on 3rd December '03 and that was bad enough but I pushed like mad and at least got carpet back in the house in time for a Christmas tree for the kids. No hope of getting anything organised with just a week to go :(

It is heading the opposite direction to the norm over the past few months. It was dropping South but has done a bit of a U-Turn and is now moving East.
@The_FishmanAU is all I need to say.

Have had one weakish thunderstorm roll on over us here this afternoon, with two others skirting around us just recently. I have managed to see a few CG so at least it has given me a fix for now. :D I could see that complex further to the north around Ararat earlier before, massive nice Cb!!

Currently watching the next little cell south of Mortlake, hopefully with will pass near by.

Yeah, that's the one I was talking about earlier Jake, thought it might be heading towards you. Forming a pretty convincing line now :)

Jake, what do u think the severe potential is for Melbourne now? I'm expecting some short heavy bursts but nothing spectacular but thinking there must be a chance of damaging winds for coastal areas around the bay ie st kilda beach

Sitting on the deck, looking due west, can see lightning way off in the distance, hope it gets this far, always looks more impressive at night.
