It's a historical heat bomb, mother Nature hinted it yesterday by poking fun at the model temp projections. Solar energy radiating at unforecastable levels.
The 2.30pm AEST IR Himawari 8 is now reaching its upper limit on skin surface temperature. New colour scale required thanks

Why is the solar energy going off Jasmine? surely the sun hasnt moved.
Honestly, Ive got no idea, can someone explain pls.
The solar radiation is converting into heat at the surface, more than models and the BoM thought

Much of it has to do with the extreme rainfall deficit in the Broken Hill region over the past 12 months.
An interesting one to watch in Whyalla. It has equaled the current site's record of 48.0c, although the old Norrie site nearby (1906-2001) got to 49.4c on Jan 2 1960 (that other notoriously hot South Australian day).

Back online, have a feeling the NBN in this area does not like hot weather, at least twice before on a hot day it has dropped off.
I assume your on Malcolm's rubbish FTTN. Going to be lots of Nodes going down during the next 24 hours. Thank god I'm on FTTP.
Meanwhile locally it's 36C according to the Laverton site. The weird slightly cooler temperatures compared to other places continues.
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.
