I agree, i think that band to the NW is very heavy. Once it shows itself out of the radar hole expect lots of orange..

Im off to bed, will be up at 3.30am for work, and expect the radar to look very colorful.

Not sure I'd be standing so close to rivers like that after the QLD disaster at Toowoomba and downstream.

About to go out and water the lawn as we have had next to stuff all here. Currently the warmest place in the state with little prospect of any useful rain tonight it would seem. Any encouragement not to water would be appreciated as it is going to interfere with my drinking my last bottle of red.

Not my video. Just found it. :P
"From now until tomorrow, we are expecting 50-100mm of rain in the west with isolated totals of 150mm possible in the Grampians and Pyrenees," Mr Bannister said.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Tony Bannister said a new rain band would develop in the north-west and move across the state.

"The rain band will move eastwards but will weaken as it moves across," he said

The rain band is expected to hit Melbourne after midnight with up to 30mm of rain to fall in the city.

The downpour is expected to clear by morning to isolated showers.

ABC Local's flood warning just came on. BOM said 50-100mm still probable over most areas except E Gippy and 20-30mm still possible. The ABC also said Creswick could flood if there is 20-30mm more rain.

Had about 25mm tonight since about 5pm, just tipped out the guage at 103mm which is basically the YTD and includes 8mm for last Saturday so this system sits at about 95mm

That low seriously looks like it's heading for central Vic, and if it does going by that water vapour image, Very heavy rain will be a definite result.

Just posting quickly while I have a connection (boy, that's been a challenge!). Wind's picked up here in the last half hour substantially, still very warm. Rain stopped some time ago, just drizzly stuff on and off now. Now off to try and read all these pages of posts before I lose connection again!

For those with my mobile, can you stay in touch and text me to let me know of anything going on for up here if you get a chance? Ta :D
