Nice, steady rain here for the past 2 hours,
looks set in for the night.
Storms up in the Mallee, but look to be heading down the Murray.
More rain developing near Adelaide that could have storms in it later,
that lot might come our way.
Looks to be a good cold air field behind the front, could be productive
as well in the north west air flow.
Progs keen for about 25mm here next 24 hours. They've not really budged from that so gotta be pretty confident.
Radar looks to be on track. The system is strengthening and the rain will thicken up through the evening.
Gusty winds here, but falling short of damaging with only the odd small branch down. Apart from the wind it felt nice out there in the sun today.
Btw keep in mind that the radar can't see rain which isn't moving towards or away from the radar. This means that rainbands going northwest to southeast will appear to have holes in the southwest to northeast direction. That's why the rain appears to die then form again with a band of low or no rain in the southwest to northeast direction. This effect then plays out on top of the rainshadow and the bounce rain in the lee of the ranges (actually gravity waves, like those you get on the ocean).
Last hour has seen Ballarat ramp up significantly, and we are just missing out here at Scarsdale. Never mind the mower was kicking up bow waves yesterday so I dont actually need any more rain. However looks like more on the way, hopefully with some lightning activity
Spot on ILS..... I've just hit play on the doors 'riders on the storm' .... Loads of instability in this one. Meanwhile the gauges are still ticking over before the main course arrives up here.
