I love that pic HB, not so much for the storm but for all of the crazy foliage colour. Lookslike there are some nice gardens in your area. I think I need to get me a drone too :)

Quote from the BOM - Notes on the weather today.
"Noojee recorded 26.6mm in 5 minutes with a
particularly severe thunderstorm this afternoon".
Don't know what the record amount of Rain for 5 mins is in Victoria but if that is correct
must be getting close to it.

broke the duck here with 11mm from this mornings short but sharp storm, a CG hit the Timkin Water Tower accross the road from work and the power was out, loudest bang I had heard in a while, should be rather wintry tomorrow with occasional showers tending to rain. Slight risk of imbedded storms.

That's an awesome photo hillybilly. Those drones are amazing. Hi TassieDave, my sister lives in the Huon Valley and they have been getting a lot of rain too so looks like all over Tassie. So pleased to hear that

Just fluked seeinfg the most unusal lightnig flash Ive seen.

Looking from carrum, toward pakenham, head height, distance, looked close maybe 2 3 k, gut says ovver pakenham.

A .2 sec red flaash in a sea of grey, like a red ball, inside, a mini lighting bolt, flash gone, amazing.

No doubt sonething very pedestrian, in other conditions but another first for me!

Turning out to be a monumental fizzer for us. No rain today and airmass has dried out. Might have to wait until March or April for anything decent.

Next time I see a forecast model I'll divide rain totals by 10.

Teeming rain here this morning from that almost stationary rain band. Looks like this narrow band will sit over central areas for much of today, slowly edging into west Gippsland. Sadly, going to miss western areas... Strato, progs. not really holding much for areas in the west next 72 hours with the lows to the northwest and southeast. Thinking your best chance is when the SA low rotates across NSW later Saturday.

Fantastic to see the falls in Tas continuing, though might be getting rather too much rain in the north now.

So good to see it happening for Tasmania.
We had a tiny bit of rain around 3am and have been extremely lucky to be just under the band that's happening for east central areas now. It looks like it's nearly finished for is now.
This mountain can very often be a rain magnet, mostly in the cool half of the year but it can repel a summer storm like no other place I've ever lived! Very frustrating at times. I've had higher totals recently from overnight mountain drizzle than I've had from this entire event.

Looks like the rain is about to clear here, just in time to walk my little boy to school for his very first day of prep. :D

What a week so far, 3 days of rain in a row for the usually dry western suburban desert. Must be some kind of record for sure. ;)

I Don't mean to be greedy but I was hoping for longer lasting rain today. Looks like the area just to the south-east of here will do best.

I suppose a mainly fine Friday late morning/afternoon is on the cards

Another morning, another 0 mm in the gauge.

Sunday is maybe our only chance for something. And I doubt anymore than a mm or two.

17.4m's to 9am here and another 5.1mm's since then - system total 35.8mm's MTD 55.6mm's.
Has stopped raining now and doesn't not look like we will get much more today.
Pretty happy with that though above average for the month now which looked unlikely a few days ago.
