Nothing further overnight, not that I could tell , I'm too deaf to hear anything on the roof!
It must be a bit frosty because it's down to -1C now, a good chance of some road ice this morning.
The anti-ice pump thingy that sends warm water up to my solar hot water panels has been going crazy all night. Unfortunately I am not quite deaf enough to miss out on hearing it!

Nice to see some snow last night. Happy first day of Winter!

So far, can only count as a sleet day. Didn't hear or see any graupel, hail or proper snow.
Yes, likewise for us. Currently zero & a white frost outside, which is unusual here on a hilltop. Impressive minimums in the Alps e.g. minus 7.1 at Mt Hotham.

It never ceases to amaze me how King Island can produce a distinct rain shadow over us when the flow is SSW, clearly visible on the radar this morning. Would've been nice to have a bit of the white stuff before I head off to the UK tomorrow, bound to be some while I'm away going by the way this season is shaping up.
Temperature 3.4C and rising slowly .

After an overnight low of 4.6 the temp has dropped to 3.3 in the last 30 mins. Just missing out on the rain tho.

Freezing here at work with another shower currently passing through. Another couple of degrees and the impossible might of happened. 4 degrees here at present.

As per usual it's dry as chips with the cold air behind the front. Synoptic pattern still high pressure dominant so it's not as unstable as it could be with these air streams.

Thursday still looking reasonable. Looks like a decent burst of showers, although snow level has risen above 1000m now in the progs.

Seen some Pics of Snow In Tassie down to about 300 meters. Also some good snow in Cooma and Jindabyne.
Got down to 3.2c here this morning with some ice on the car.
Some good falls in the eastern and NE suburbs with many falls in the 10 to 20mm range - Oakleigh 22mm's.
Stream was a bit too southerly for me only 3.6mm's up to 9am with 4.4mm's at Melbourne water Cranbourne Sth.
Edit - just had a heavy hail shower with another 1.8mm's with it.

A cold but frustratingly dry day in the Dandenongs thanks to the King Island rainshadow and the Mornington Penisula splitting the flow. Just two light showers with about 0.5mm falling. Max of 6.1C and now dropping. Will need to get the wood fire raging :D

Lots of good snow photos doing the rounds - snow reported at lots of spots (the usual suspects). Probably the most significant was falls around Cooma which is cold but tends to be dry in lots of events which had nearly 5cm. Alpine falls were pretty modest as the air mass is so cold (a common issue with the really cold "cold fronts").

Here's one photo via twitter from the Victorian Stormchasers showing Donna Buang. Nice...

Coldest day for ages here; sub-zero in the wee hours, peaking at 5 C briefly this afternoon, and now down to 3 C. 7 mm to a 9 am and maybe half a mm since,

Burning firewood like we're trying to win a train race!

Nice wet hail shower just passed through Elwood. Lovely pics. Twice in a couple of weeks Tollangi has scored good snow coverage.

Loving the cold air.

Went into a Western Port Bay stream overnight. Had drizzle and fog and a toastie 4.8C when I left home :D EC wants to keep the showers going for another 2 days, so might bump the total up a bit more - currently sat on ~16mm for the event.

Progs are looking pretty lean after this event.

Some cracking frosts inland overnight, not helped the dry soils north of the divide where many areas are tacking badly behind the YTD average.

It reached at 7c Mt D today, but the big surprise, it only just reached 11c today in Melbourne's CBD, amazing. :D

Only 6.3C here today on top of the hill :D City was freezing with a drizzly stream coming straight up Port Phillip Bay. Cloud was often on the buildings.

Here in Ferny Creek we've sat in a weaker Western Port Bay stream with 2mm more today.

Bit of a secondary front showing up for Thursday, which is kinda tied to this sequence probably not a bad idea to add a couple of days to the thread. Thursday could well deliver some lower level (surprise) snow if the front pushed through as there will be cold air trapped in the low levels. EC has 3C and showers here so pretty close.

Coldest start to winter since 1949 in the city.

The new weather station at olympic park is working a treat and on a day today it is lucky we have it to reflect the true conditions. Had it been in the old location it probably would have recorded 14 degree maximums which would have been ludicrous.

Thursday looks ok by the way. 2 more days of similar weather tomorrow and Thursday

A deck of cloud has kept the temp above 6 degC here overnight. And yet not too far away from here at Mangalore it was a bone chilling -2.6c.
