Was going to struggle to retain that intensity away from the ranges...will still get a bit of rain and may get some serious stuff if you are in the right spot
Main course arriving in Box Hill South just now...
EDIT: steady heavy-ish rain and just had a thunderbolt close by. Nothing out of the ordinary though.

Have been down at Brighton Beach for the past hour or so watching it come in. When I went down there the radar was looking very severe, black cored multi-cells extending in a line through the western suburbs down into the bayside area. As I got to the bay it was pretty obvious just by looking that it initially weakened once it moved over. Double checked the radar and that was certainly the case. Initially I was disappointed by the weakening, but stayed there anyway. About halfway as it was moving across the bay towards us folks in Brighton/Elwood/Elsternwick/Sandringham way, it appeared to get together, and radar confirmed red and black echoes, so it did re-strengthen. Had plenty of lightning while I was down there, only one flang though, instant thunder, never disapoints. Most of the lightning from what I could see was CC, but there was a good mix. No strong winds or large hail in what I experienced. The northwest suburbs though may have a different story.
There is another little band of thunderstorms approaching from the northwest.

Storm weakened out as it came through here, some good rumbles but only light rain and will soon clear. Only 0.4mm's here will be Lucky to get anymore than one mm all up.
Don't think it was any different here Jake. It weakened here in Sunshine West as it approached, don't think it was any different at home either. Will soon find out when get there later this afternoon.
Round 2 on it's way by the looks of it.
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.
Yeah didn't expect round two, strange for it to come in from NW after coming from W, usually other way around with the wind changes!! Could hit with some ferocity with the SW infeed into the NW band it is intensifying
Only 2.6mm in the city. Felt like a bit more than that.
Poor Mansfield is about to get slammed. This will be the third month in a row where the area has had significant severe storm events. Look dangerous there ATM.
Not sure if the activity to Melb's NW will track over us or not.
