It's a good day Gordon! It's so nice that the cold outbreak is sustained. It's usually all over so quickly.
We have on again off again snow showers all morning, still sitting on zero here

Plenty of reports on the radio of snow in Ballarat. Not surprised temp there has fallen to 1.0c

Front moving up the bay now, will see temps dive across Melbourne, snow level looks around 350m post front atm, though may fall a little lower later afternoon/evening as the airmass cools a little more, especially Eastern Melb. Looks like a lot of coldies still to come from Bass Strait so lots of opportunities to come.

A road weather alert has been issued for the metro area for icy roads abs low level snow. This is the first time I have seen such a warning issued since August 10 2005.
I just how that gap in the bay fills in quickly coz that's the direction the wind is blowing from.

Could be snowing at the top of Ferny Creek, we've had a bit of sleet here, but has gone back to mostly rain now. 3.2c here and steady for now...

weather station Offine, from 20 inside, nose and toes are a good indication that 40 seconds outside is enough..

Thanks Onetahuti! Not a bad fall for the middle of the day. Got down to 1 C and now back up to 1.5 C between blizzards!
It will be interesting to see what happens if we get more precipitation later in the day, after the 'warmest' temps have passed.

Still reckon there's a chance for snow in the suburbs later today. coldest air yet to come through.
BOM not really saying what the snow level is in their warnings except that it's low level. That suggests they're onto something.
Bring it on

A pleasure to help. Now to venture out and walk to nursing home where I volunteer, looking at radar hopefully will not encounter any rain on the way.
