Lots of single digit temperatures across the state today, even ahead of the cold front, and behind it it's really cold! Just 8 degrees in Warrnambool and 5 degrees near Colac. Ben Nevis is 0 degrees whilst it's only 4 degrees in Ballarat. Here it's 9 degrees in Brighton.
Plenty of showers to come, especially once the flow tends more southwesterly, and that's when we should see those heavy dumpers with lots of hail, similar to what the southwest of the state has been experiencing. I was driving through Caulfield as those showers came through not long ago and there was some small hail in those. So lots more to come!
Snowfalls looking good on and Alps too (they must be having an awesome season so far), and plenty of low level snow being reported, even in the Otways!

Not many showers behind the front, but that's usually the case.Very dry air currently behind the front. Here's hoping the flow does turn SW, and strong showers develop. I know it's a big ask but bring on sea level snow haha.
I don't want to sound like a hack, but I'm in Scoresby at the moment and the stuff falling from the sky is sleet-like rain (not proper sleet). Car thermometer showing 6 degrees and the 'rain' looks very un-rain like (if that makes sense). It should be snowing on Mt Dandenong very soon..
Sun out now and temp rising got down to 8.1c before but its back to 9.0c.
Looks like this may be the last active front for some time, next system looks pretty weak.
Maybe two weeks or more before we get another active system
Missed it all while in Costco, but was black as a DG on the trip to Ringwood,
so what did I miss.. a few mm's. could hear heavy rain while inside.
who's that Jake..?
Snow has been reported around Kyneton, Ararat and Castlemaine, so it is now dropping well below that 400m in places. Hopefully Mt D gets a good go at some snow later on this afternoon or evening. I noticed that the temperature at Redesdale dropped down to 3.3°C during the front before at 290m ASL. Impressive!
The only thing that worries me is the direction the rain is coming from. The Otway rain shadow may well be the biggest factor in how much (and if we get) rain tonight. I remember there's been a few times when this happened. It is soooooo annoying.

Lacking in the showers currently. Flow is too westerly here. Hopefully things get better this evening. Big line of showers and thunder in the northeast at the moment though, a STW is current for that.
