Yes a general upgrade for most of us this morning which makes a nice change, however, visually it just looks the same as every other system this year that has failed miserably, so not getting my hopes up yet. I really can't see any significant rain for here until we finally get a decent injection of cold air into the mix, which may be coming in a week's time.
I'm beginning to suspect a conspiracy up here at the BOM weather station in the NW
In the last three rain events we have seen one case of no recorded rain, one case of radar down, and guess what, its down again today!!!
Sky weather mentioned this morning that there was an injection of cold air in the mix
from an upper trough down south"
Sounded weird but thought this May be what is prog these high totals
Still looking good to me! Wouldn't be surprised to see some 50-70mm local falls somewhere over the next several days. Models still varying where the heaviest of totals will be, but a nice state-wide event generally. Biggest uncertainty is the expected movement of the low that will develop. Some models show it retrograding from eastern Bass Strait to Central Bass Strait or thereabouts later in the week. Will look at things more in depth tonight with an update of the website forecasts.
Have seen some light rain this morning in Brighton, otherwise nice and mild

Just been spitting here for the last two or three hours, still too light to trouble the rain gauge. Looks good on radar though and hopefully the gauge will start ticking over soon.
Enough rain to wet the ground here but getting heavier and more solid now with the radar filling in nicely and good to see the BOM pick up on it this morning with the "showers" forecast for central areas, I'm sure I must have a different interpretation to the BOM of what isolated showers and rain periods are . Anyway a good result and looking great for some serious falls.

Rhino.
Yep my thoughts too. "A few showers" hey.

7 mm here so far so it's actually an upgrade result vs models for today if nothing else! Makes for a pleasant change.
Looking forward, the latest BOM 4 day chart looks extremely promising. If that low can really move back west through Bass Strait on Saturday, we could get a dump here.
Someone turned the tap on before I left work (vollie in aged care) so got slightly damp on the ride home, something that has not happened since I forget when, not 2014 for sure. No complaints though.
'A few showers' has ended up as 7.4mm at home so far, according to the PWS.
Considering the last several systems were a complete bust, I'm overjoyed with that so far, and if the models are right this time, could continue on well into the week which could even (gasp) fill the tank if we're real lucky! The only challenge might be finding a less-wet day to ride to work, but I'd be happy to put up with a wet day on the bike for some decent rain.
