Around 40C again here today and the next two days will probably get to 41C.
I doubt we've had more than a handful of 40C days here since the beginning of European settlement, that's how significant this heatwave is locally.
Incredible that every year is smashing records now with these ridiculous heatwaves. It's not just the intensity of the heat that's changing, it's the overall patterns, eg. the late monsoon, more stubborn blocking patterns, etc.
I am noticing the heat bank that builds up over central Aus is shifting much further southwards than it used to as we progress through the summer. It's not necessarily over the top 850Ts but the fact they are extending down here for days at a time is the key to all this.
