Weather Situation
A vigorous westerly flow is expected today in the wake of a cold front.
Damaging winds around 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast for parts of the Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central and West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts.
Localised wind gusts of 110 to 120 km/h are possible, particularly near the coast and in elevated areas or with thunderstorms.
Mount Buller has recorded a wind gust of 133km/h at 3.07am, while numerous other locations over southern and mountain areas of Victoria have already recorded gusts of 80 to 95 km/hr.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
Keep clear of fallen power lines.
