Yeah that 4am BOOOMM got me awake as well. Our house is pretty quiet, and even in moderate rain we can hardly hear anything inside, but that clap this morning sure made it in. Models seem to be indicating a fair bit of further rain today. Up to about 75mm here MTD.

BOM should issue a precautionary squall warning. These next bands could turn nasty through the bay

Great system, not sure of overnight total back home as I forgot to check the gauge. Water everywhere on the roads near work. Very gusty winds at present, roller door sounds like it's going to get blown off.

24.2mm of rain overnight, had two rounds of thunder and lightning (one at about 1:00am and the other at around 4:30am), very windy outside and more showers and thunderstorms coming in from the southwest, should be an active day weatherwise! :D

Dane, your rainfall total during the past 10 days has been simply crazy! Unbelievable! :-o

Wind has been shocking here this morning, even the mobile phone tower in our street has been swaying in the wind. Can't say I've ever seen that happen before. :windsail: :windsail:

Think it is hailing in Malvern as well! Bucketing and sounds like pebbles hitting the roof but can't confirm it is hail!

Heavy rain earlier this morning with lightning and thunder waking me up at about 4am as well! Since then, just very very windy with heavy showers. Was driving to university and my poor mazda 3 was being shifted left and right with the wind!

Showers and thunder will gradually contract to East Gippsland during the afternoon, and as Dane mentioned, winds will ease next few hours.

Have also updated today's thunderstorm chart. Tomorrow's will be updated later.

Incredible boom of thunder here at 215am like an explosion! Shook the whole house!

34mm here and 32mm the City so slightly passing my expectations of 15-30mm this way great system!

The westerlies between 8am and 11am were the strongest westerlies I have ever experienced in my life

Two cold air thunderstorms through here. The last one was great. Better system today than I thought storm wise!

Just had a massive gust of wind push through here during the past 10-15 minutes, must of been close to 100 km/h. Very surprised no damage has occurred in the street.

Apparently Sydney is copping the winds as well. Just got off the phone from our Head Office up there and it's absolutely blowing a gale.
